As an avid movie-goer with a deep appreciation for the craft and longevity of actors, I must say that Harrison Ford continues to astound me with his versatility and unwavering commitment to his craft. From Han Solo to Indiana Jones, President Randolph McKenzie to Jack Ryan, and now Jacob Dutton in Yellowstone’s prequel series 1923, the man has proven time and again that he is more than just a face – he’s an institution.
Lately, Ford is portrayed as a massive, fiery-red, enraged Hulk within trailers for “Captain America: Brave New World”. After wrapping up filming and initial press for that movie, with the film not releasing until February, Ford has reverted to a distinctly different character – reprising his role as Jacob Dutton in images from the Yellowstone prequel series, as unveiled by Taylor Sheridan’s production.
There is nothing about Harrison Ford that suggests he doesn’t have versatility to spare. Over his career he has played everything from action heroes to violent husbands, innocent fugitives to presidents, and now he is going from the CGI-heavy world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the Western setting of 1923. As Yellowstone continues to debut new episodes, the second and final season of the Ford and Helen Mirren-led prequel set in, you guessed it, 1923, is currently filming in Montana.
In the recent photographs (provided by the Daily Mail), the 82-year-old Ford is spotted on a snowy road, bundled up against the cold winter weather. After multiple postponements due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023, Ford has resumed filming again. As expected, life goes on, and when the Hollywood production resumed, there were numerous schedules to be adjusted and many plans to be rearranged.
In the upcoming season of the series, the Dutton family encounters a fresh batch of difficulties during the early 20th century, dealing with issues such as Westward expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. It is anticipated that several recurring characters from Season 1 will make their comeback, including Ford and Mirren, Brandon Sklenar, Julia Schlaepfer, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, and Brian Geraghty.
Harrison Ford is Still Busy in Hollywood
Last year, during an interview, Ford shared his reasons for joining the Yellowstone spinoff. He stated:
Helen and I enrolled ourselves in the same project, unscripted, with Taylor Sheridan overseeing the script during my work on Shrinking. We’re both elated about the final product, the intriguing characters we played, and the chances those characters offered us.
In his 80s, Ford persistently demonstrates that numbers don’t define age. His comeback as Indiana Jones in 2023, assuming the significant Marvel role of Thaddeus Ross (previously played by the late William Hurt), and even portraying the Red Hulk, shows no indication of him retreating from an industry he has been involved with for more than six decades. He’s also part of the Yellowstone universe, suggesting that he’s far from slowing down.
In February, he’s set to make his first appearance as Thaddeus Ross in Marvel’s “Brave New World.” Although trailers have already revealed his Red Hulk persona, the plot isn’t clear about any future appearances for either character beyond this film. There are numerous potential stories that could involve Red Hulk, but due to complications regarding Hulk’s usage rights, it remains uncertain where and how he may reappear again.
