Despite not being officially recognized as a golf brand, Southern California-based hat maker melin has garnered attention among golf enthusiasts for its emphasis on functionality. Essentially, a top-quality hat speaks volumes without words. This reputation is what’s helped melin amass a roster of ambassadors, consisting of professional skateboarders, wakeboarders, and motocross racers. Now, Jake Knapp, a 30-year-old pro golfer who had a breakout season last year, has joined the team, hailing from Costa Mesa.
As a devoted fan myself, I can’t express enough my thrill at teaming up with Melin! For quite some time now, their hats have been an essential part of my wardrobe, so aligning with them felt like a perfect fit without a second thought.
Moving forward, I’ll still be sporting Original Penguin attire from the collar down. However, you can expect to see Melin headwear seamlessly blending into both my on-course and casual off-course looks.
Brian McDonell, co-founder and president of Melin, highlighted Knapp’s Californian background, strong work ethic, and casual streetwear aesthetic when asked about the rationale behind sponsoring Knatt. Although Melin hasn’t targeted golfers until now, partnering with Knapp presents an opportunity to venture into the golf market in the future.
Keep an eye out for “special releases commemorating this significant event” throughout the upcoming year, since the renowned golfer Knapp is playing his second complete season on the PGA TOUR.
