Heather Graham Reveals Life-Changing Advice from David Lynch

Last week marked the 35th anniversary of the debut of “Twin Peaks” on ABC, a poignant occasion considering co-creator David Lynch passed away not too long ago. The acclaimed director’s groundbreaking series boasted a rich cast of well-known actors, among them Heather Graham who portrayed Annie, a diner waitress from Season 2 and a love interest to Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan). Recently, MovieWeb had the chance to chat with Graham during her promotion for her new Western movie, “Gunslingers”. The esteemed actress shared her thoughts on being part of Lynch’s television masterpiece, particularly since his daughter recently revealed the enigmatic grave marker that adorns Lynch’s Hollywood resting place.

Graham shared with us his heartfelt gratitude for being involved in the iconic TV series “Twin Peaks”. He expressed how significant it was for many people, and he feels fortunate to have been a part of such an extraordinary show. Furthermore, he mentioned that his co-star advised him to learn Transcendental Meditation, a practice he continues daily, and for which he remains thankful to this day.

In 2017, when Twin Peaks made its comeback, fans eagerly anticipated the reappearance of Annie, as the ending in the early ’90s left Graham’s character’s fate enveloped in mystery. During an interview, Graham hinted at her character’s whereabouts, saying “I believe I’m trapped within the Black Lodge, yet in a coma. Occasionally, I regain consciousness and claim that I’m well, as per a book someone once told me about.” This statement addresses Bob’s taunting query at the end of Season 2, “Where’s Annie?” To some extent. Nevertheless, Graham expressed his hope that Annie would be brought back to life and experience something positive.

“Take Care of Yourself First”

Previously, MovieWeb had an interview with Graham during the promotion of a different Western film titled “Place of Bones“. Currently, she is co-starring in another Western movie called “Gunslingers“, where she plays a concerned mother to a young girl. “Gunslingers” can be considered a traditional Western, and it also features renowned male actors like Stephen Dorff and Nicolas Cage. Compared to “Place of Bones“, which is more of a horror-thriller Western with a female lead, I find this genre rarely has a female protagonist. It’s truly exciting to collaborate with such esteemed male movie stars, whose work I have always admired and enjoyed watching.

Graham has found herself under the limelight lately, following her candid interview with People Magazine where she discussed her newfound happiness since reaching 55 years old in January. In an additional chat with MovieWeb, she shed light on what keeps her optimistic:

She emphasized the significance of maintaining a mindset that prioritizes personal well-being above all else in life. This means focusing on feeling good within oneself, with everything else being relatively insignificant. She further explained that by putting self-care first, you’re better equipped to offer more to others and operate from a place of love and positivity, rather than solely catering to others’ needs.

Those exact concepts are likewise featured in a contemporary film that Graham was behind the camera for, penned, and acted in – titled “Chosen Family“. You can catch it streaming on Hulu at this link. Catch more of Graham’s acting brilliance in “Gunslingers“, distributed by Lionsgate, now playing in cinemas, on demand, and digitally.
