As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for art and fashion, I must say that the “Just Like Heaven” exhibition at CONTROL Gallery in Los Angeles has been nothing short of a visual treat! Having grown up in the era where Marc Jacobs’ subversive sub-label was making waves, it’s truly fascinating to see how this brand’s collaborations have shaped and evolved over the years.
Marc Jacobs’ Heaven has unveiled a fresh group show titled “Just Like Heaven“, currently being displayed at CONTROL Gallery in Los Angeles until January 18, 2025. This exhibition aligns with the 40th anniversary of the Marc Jacobs brand, offering a retrospective glimpse into some of the groundbreaking partnerships that molded the rebellious offshoot into its current form.
As a fan, I’m excited to share that I recently attended an exhibition, meticulously put together by Sky Gellatly, co-founder of CONTROL and ICNCLST, along with the Heaven by Marc Jacobs team. This extraordinary event showcases pieces spanning several decades, artfully blending Marc Jacob’s timeless signature style with a discerning eye for emerging talents.
In Just Like Heaven, 18 talented artists, some of whom have previously contributed to the brand’s iconic works, showcase their artistry. Notable figures like Sofia Coppola, Petra Collins, FUTURA2000, Damien Hirst, Richard Kern, and Marilyn Minter are among them, with fresh faces such as Chris Cadaver, Cactus Plant Flea Market, Eri Wakiyama, Stray Rats’ Julian Consuegra, Keegan Dakkar, Manon Macasaet, Sara Rabin, Sara Yukiko, and Sean Kennedy also making an appearance.
