Hellboy: The Crooked Man Star Jack Kesy Teases ‘Very Horror’ Reboot

As a seasoned cinephile with a penchant for all things supernatural and a soft spot for Hellboy, I must say that the forthcoming reboot of this beloved franchise, “Hellboy: The Crooked Man,” has piqued my interest significantly. The decision to cast Jack Kesy in the titular role is an intriguing one, especially considering his background in gritty, action-packed films like “12 Strong” and “The Killer.”

As a long-time fan of the Hellboy franchise, I am excited about the upcoming reboot, “Hellboy: The Crooked Man.” Having followed the evolution of this character portrayed by Ron Perlman and later by David Harbour, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and curiosity as Jack Kesy steps into the role. Given my background in comic book adaptations and love for horror films, I believe that Kesy’s tease about the movie leaning into horror is an intriguing development.

“This movie is undeniably terrifying and true to the spirit of Mike Mignola’s comics like never before. He’s thrilled about it. In fact, scenes from the comic book have been recreated remarkably closely, almost scene by scene… It’s gritty, it’s darker, it’s rated R, it’s scarier, it’s more somber. I believe this is exactly what Mike envisioned for it.”

Apart from amplifying the horror in “Hellboy: The Crooked Man,” a aspect missing in past adaptations, it’s also been rated R. This news should get fans of Mike Mignola’s comic books pumped up! In fact, Mignola himself is thrilled, as he believes this new version is the most faithful to the original material yet.

Jack Kesy Thought the Offer to Play Hellboy Was a Joke

In the movie “Hellboy: The Crooked Man,” Kesy’s part stands out as his most significant role yet in his acting career. He recently shared that when he was offered this role, he initially believed it was a prank.

“A producer contacted me on the phone and asked, ‘Would you be interested in portraying Hellboy?’ I replied, ‘What did you just say?!’ I had to pull over to ask, ‘Which character do you want me for the film?’ He clarified, ‘Not that one, the red-haired guy.’ I exclaimed, ‘Stop joking around!'”

In an interview with Geek Vibes Nation, Kesy provided additional details on how he secured the part of Hellboy. He left a lasting impact on the production team through his impressive audition video and his “large-scale talent,” as they put it.

“To be completely honest, I was thrilled when I was asked for a speedy audition – ‘Just shoot a scene or two,’ they said. I dusted off my acting arsenal, rolled up some cigarettes, and created a captivating scene. It seems they were impressed, as they leaped with joy over it. I’m glad they found pleasure in it, as I thoroughly enjoyed the audition process. This character seemed like a fun role to sink my teeth into, someone I could oddly identify with on a personality level rather than an aesthetic one. The anticipation of bringing this character to life is exhilarating.”

Under the direction of Brian Taylor, known for “Crank” and “Happy!”, comes the movie “Hellboy: The Crooked Man”. The screenplay is by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden, based on the limited series “The Crooked Man” written by Mike Mignola. In this reboot, Jack Kesy portrays Hellboy, while Adeline Rudolph (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”, “Resident Evil”), Jefferson White (“Yellowstone”), Leah McNamara (“The Gentlemen”), Joseph Marcell (“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”), Hannah Margetson (“Min kamp”), and Martin Bassindale (“Masters of the Air”) take on the role of the villainous Crooked Man.
