As a long-time Helldivers fanatic who’s been battling across the stars for what feels like eons now, I can’t help but feel disheartened by the latest developments in Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2. The game started off with a bang, delivering an exhilarating experience that kept me hooked for hours on end. But alas, it seems that the shine has worn off and the cracks are beginning to show.
2024 saw the release of Arrowhead Game Studios’ much-anticipated sequel to Helldivers, but unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the tough in the game lately. Despite the promising start on Sony platforms, it seems the game has fallen prey to the common issues we often see plague modern shooters today. Here I am, a fan, eagerly waiting for a smoother gaming experience.
Instead of addressing underlying problems such as balance issues and lack of updates, critics claim that developers are overlooking numerous technical glitches and bugs by releasing cosmetic packs to mask the game’s flaws. Regrettably, the unveiling of the Freedom’s Flame Premium Warbond has further fueled the ongoing debate.
Helldivers 2 players unconvinced by Freedom’s Flame Premium Warbond
Are we feeling the heat in here, or is it just us? Let’s prepare to ignite a blaze across the galaxy instead!

Arrowhead is excitedly looking forward to the Freedom’s Flame Premium Warbond from PlayStation, especially with summer approaching. According to an official blog post, Helldivers 2 will be a major feature starting August 8th. Notable items in this bundle are the SG-451 Cookout shotgun loaded with phosphorus bullets and Firebomb Hellpods for charring opponents.
It appears that the typical Helldiver expresses more bewilderment than excitement regarding whether their flaming armor offers flame protection. Given our past experiences where teammates accidentally ignited us with their flamethrowers, this concern seems justified.
It’s understandable that this raises some concerns, given the warning in the FLAM-66 Torcher description: “Sounds safe. It isn’t. Be cautious of your surroundings.” However, there is a silver lining as the blog assures us that both the new I-09 Heatseeker and I-102 Draconaught have a fire damage resistance of 75%.
1. After the unveiling, people didn’t seem very enthusiastic. One unhappy player expressed, “Skins aren’t enough anymore; we need the new enemy faction,” inquiring about the Illuminate faction. Another stated, “There are now 250 additional bugs (developer bugs),” and a third summed up by saying, “Fix the game!”
1. Some individuals argued that the upcoming adjustments to the weapons would render them less effective in a short while, which diminished their incentive to purchase the Freedom’s Flame Premium Warbond. In summary, one Helldiver expressed dissatisfaction saying, “Fellas, your game has grown stale. There’s nothing fresh or exciting to engage with anymore. These cosmetic upgrades seem pointless at this stage. Just my two cents.”
Players of Helldivers 2 have expressed disappointment over the lack of new content, making the release of another cosmetic Warbond a potentially controversial move. At its regular price of 1000 Super Credits, it’s not an inexpensive addition. Unfortunately, this latest update for Helldivers 2 doesn’t include the long-awaited Illuminate feature.
