As a long-time fan who has seen Henry Cavill don various capes and swords across multiple universes, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension. The news of his involvement in the live-action Voltron film is undeniably thrilling, reminiscent of catching that elusive Pokémon you’ve been chasing for years. However, this latest update has me concerned about Cavill’s Warhammer 40K series.
It seems like Henry Cavill is amassing franchises with the same enthusiasm as a Pokemon collector. From his role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe to his portrayal of Geralt of Rivera in the initial three seasons of The Witcher, this actor has graced many prominent blockbuster productions on both large and small screens. Now, there are reports that he’s added another one, particularly the live-action Voltron movie. However, I can’t help but ponder if this rapid accumulation might impact his Warhammer 40K series.
To kick things off optimistically, Amazon MGM Studios has chosen Henry Cavill to spearhead the upcoming Voltron movie adaptation. This project, based on the well-known Japanese science fiction franchise, is helmed by director Rawson Marshall Thurber, who collaborated with Ellen Shanman in writing the script. After Daniel Quinn-Toye, a newcomer known for understudying Tom Holland’s role in the West End, Cavill becomes the second actor to join this film. The specifics of the Voltron storyline are being kept secret, including Cavill’s character.
You tell me Henry Cavill’s going to appear in a blockbuster movie about a team of pilots who operate robots called Battle Lions that can come together and form the Voltron mecha, and I’m in! Henry Cavill and Daniel Quinn-Toye’s castings come a little over two and a half years after Rawson Marshall Thurber’s involvement was announced. With casting news finally coming out, it looks like Voltron is finally going to move forward after many years spent in development hell. The downside is that now I’m more worried that the Warhammer 40K series won’t see the light of day.
More to come…
