Here are the 11 best things coming in Black Ops 6

As a seasoned Call of Duty veteran who has weathered countless updates and iterations, I must say that Black Ops 6 has truly piqued my interest with its upcoming features. The return of Verdansk, the original Warzone map, is bound to send shivers down the spines of old-school players like me. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a good grind, and the Classic Prestige system coming back is just what the doctor ordered.

Instead of sticking with the traditional, slower-paced style of Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare games that aim for balance among players, Treyarch appears to be shaking things up significantly with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The goal seems to be to introduce more complexity, foster creativity, and inject a lot of excitement and character into the series.

With all these updates, here’s what you should be mindful of to stay on top of the game in Black Ops 6: Here are the 11 top new features that are being introduced in this order.

11 – Omnimovement

Here are the 11 best things coming in Black Ops 6

To start things, let’s delve into the new concept of Omnimovement. Frankly, I harbor doubts about this transformation, but it’s evident that it will bring some fascinating gaming experiences to the table.

For an ardent enthusiast of Black Ops games, it might seem daring to stake everything on such a contentious gameplay mechanism, given that even without omnimovement, it could still potentially be considered the best game since before the jetpack era.

Should the execution be successful, Black Ops 6 might become the greatest Call of Duty game yet; however, it could just as easily take a different turn. No matter its outcome, it’s sure to be exciting watching the implementation of omnimovement…for at least a year.

10 – 16 Original Multiplayer Maps

It seems to me that we’ve been playing some repetitive maps for quite some time now. While Raid is undoubtedly my top pick, I’d appreciate a change of pace since we had an entire year of it in Cold War. Let Black Ops 6 bring us something new this time around.

Ultimately, what we have here is a truly organic gaming experience, free from traditional constraints. The daring move by Treyarch promises an impressive payoff.

In a simplified manner: All 16 initial Black Ops maps will be compatible with 6-versus-6 gameplay, yet four of the more compact layouts will also function as Strike maps for 2-versus-2 matches. However, there’s some uncertainty regarding the location of our favorite map, Nuketown.

9 – Positive Attachments

Here are the 11 best things coming in Black Ops 6

Previously in various games, the effectiveness of attachments has been inconsistent, with only a handful proving useful among numerous possibilities. However, many attachments were burdened with disadvantages intended to balance weapons, but this is no longer the case. The landscape is shifting.

Black Ops 6 is intentionally designing its attachments to enhance the performance of the weapons, instead of reducing their overall quality. This approach allows for a wider range of options without compromising other aspects.

When paired with another element lower on the list, it significantly enhances the process, ensuring that you can repeatedly acquire the necessary attachments more efficiently.

8 – Theatre Mode

Perhaps it would be more appropriate for Theatre Mode to be placed higher in the list, however since I believe it should be a consistent feature, I hesitated to rank it higher as a form of protest. Nevertheless, Theatre Mode has returned!

For the first time in the best part of a decade, Theatre Mode returns from the get-go, allowing players to nerd out with grenades and throwing knife line-ups, clip-up montages, and even catch hackers in the act. It should be a necessity in Call of Duty, but its return should also be celebrated.

7 – Human Shields

Who wouldn’t enjoy a thrilling takedown? Now, you can secretly taunt your adversaries while moving their injured body, employing them as a living barrier to deflect gunfire.

A human riot shield transformation functions by lifting your adversary to act as a protective barrier when you fire your handgun, thus providing efficient protection and adding a humorous touch to the situation.

The action additionally initiates a conversation with the bag of limbs you’ve lost, allowing you to taunt them as their own side targets their midsection in gunfire.

6 – Training Camp: Protocol

Here are the 11 best things coming in Black Ops 6

In Black Ops 6, the extensive updates on gameplay systems like loadouts and movement call for some catching up. We’ve previously discussed how omnimovement will become mandatory, and since there’s no option to opt out, it may take a while for those of us who are feeling a bit out of practice to adjust.

As a fan, I’d say, “Dive into the Protocol map and let Frank Woods guide you through this interactive terrain. For those new to the game or looking to sharpen their skills, Protocol offers a practice ground. Here, you can ensure your readiness before diving headfirst into the high-octane firefights of other missions.”

5 – Auto-knife loadouts

For the very first time in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone, a third weapon slot has been introduced. Unlike previous versions, this slot is specifically designed to hold only a knife (or blueprints for melee weapons). This gives players the advantage of carrying two firearms – primary and secondary – while also having easy access to a blade, much like in Apex Legends.

Furthermore, the auto-knife provides players with continuous tactical sprint, enhancing movement significantly, regardless of whether you carry a Light Machine Gun (LMG) and Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) as backup. This quality-of-life upgrade is one of the best Warzone has ever introduced, but remember to keep your blade concealed when guns are needed.

4 – Zombies Easter Egg walkthroughs

Here are the 11 best things coming in Black Ops 6

On every Zombies map, players can look forward to discovering hidden Easter eggs. While these won’t be as challenging as Steve Blundell’s infamous ‘impossible quest,’ they will present a degree of mystery that may require players to put on their thinking caps, much like the famous detective Sherlock Holmes.

After the public solves the Easter egg, a fresh Zombies game mode will be introduced as a guide for others, leading them on their quest. This will enable them to discover the hidden map details that they can then bring into real matches, unlocking any rewards or treasures associated with it.

Black Ops 6 introduces this mode for the very first time, and it could possibly be the initial instance where players undertake the quests specifically to savor the peculiarities unique to Zombies.

3 – Verdansk

Indeed! The classic Warzone map is making a comeback, undoubtedly rekindling the game with the intricate mechanics from Black Ops 6 acting as the spark.

Besides bringing Call of Duty back into prominence by its reappearance, Verdansk’s return will be accompanied by a grand five-year anniversary celebration, extending across multiplayer and Black Ops Cold War to create maximum excitement.

Despite attempts by places like Caldera and Al Mazrah, no location has surpassed Verdansk, and it’s unlikely that anything ever will. Treyarch is aware of this, so let’s hope that Black Ops 6 and the Warzone champion (GOAT) will collaborate to stride towards greatness together.

2 – Classic Prestiges

Here are the 11 best things coming in Black Ops 6

At last! The iconic Prestige system is making a comeback in Call of Duty, and it couldn’t be more timely. Gamers will progress through 55 stages, then they can choose to Prestige – resetting their progress back to level one and starting the climb again until they achieve Prestige Master, granting access to an additional 1,000 levels.

In every level-up or prestige, your rewards such as bonuses, weapons, and add-ons will be reset, although certain “secret prizes” may allow you to retain some components. This aligns perfectly with the concept of positive benefits. It’s been a while since we’ve had something to consistently work towards, and the return of Classic Prestiges is sure to enhance the experience in Black Ops 6.

1 – All-in live-service round-based Zombies

Here are the 11 best things coming in Black Ops 6

It’s clear that Modern Warfare 3 Zombies ended on a cliffhanger following its initial release, even though it continued with live updates. However, it seems that no significant developments occurred, despite the potential to transport players across various battle royale maps if there had been a focus on those environments as the playground.

2024 finds Treyarch fully committed, ready to dive deep into the world of Zombies. They’ve already hinted at the completion of a third map, promising its arrival by year’s end. This shift promises a refreshing change for Zombie enthusiasts, as it marks a dedicated focus on round-based gameplay, a departure from the split attention Cold War offered with Outbreak.

If fortune favors us, we might have as many as four or five distinct Zombies maps in Black Ops 6 before its conclusion. This revival promises to bring the series back to its former glory, a time known for its incredible brilliance. Among the exciting new features coming to Black Ops 6, this one stands out for me due to its long-awaited return.

By the way, Black Ops is back, so picking just 11 was tough.
