HGTV’s The Flip Off Had Viewers Celebrating Josh Hall’s Exit, But I’m Loving The Unexpected Tarek And Christina Appreciation

The long-awaited moment has arrived. Following several months of speculation (and a fair share of doubt) regarding the debut of The Flip Off amidst Christina Haack and Josh Hall’s divorce, the new HGTV series has made its way onto the 2025 television lineup. Josh was featured in approximately half of the first episode; however, their separation became public after an argument (with Josh expressing his frustration that Christina was already irritating him). Although it’s not surprising that viewers were glad to see Josh exit, I must say I’m delighted by the admiration shown towards Christina and Tarek El Moussa.

Approaching halfway through the initial episode of “The Flip Off“, a contest that paired Christina and Josh Hall against her former spouse Tarek El Moussa and his wife Heather Rae in a house-flipping challenge, Christina requested Tarek’s presence. Upon meeting, she disclosed that she and Josh had parted ways following a major argument. This revelation prompted the stars of “Flip or Flop” to reflect on their past marriage, with both expressing regret for prior errors and shedding tears. The scene proved to be remarkably emotional, as one viewer expressed on Twitter: “Never expected such a heartfelt moment during this competition.

Tonight’s episode is truly heartwarming. The evolving bond and maturity between Tarek and Christina is a sight to behold, and their children are indeed fortunate. It’s wishful thinking that all divorced couples could emulate such behavior and accept responsibility. However, Josh doesn’t seem to be up to Christina’s standards; he appears immature or petty. But Christina, it’s crucial you stop being overly critical of yourself regarding past decisions. Instead, focus on doing your best. You are a fantastic mother, a good person, and an exceptional designer. Keep pushing forward!

On social media, it was also evident that many felt indifferent towards Josh Hall’s departure from the program, with numerous posts expressing similar sentiments.

  • Can they get to the part where Josh is kicked off the show, already 😳 – Michiiboo01
  • Josh Hall has given me creepy, sketchy vibes since day one. – erikaxtc
  • Okay how soon till we get Josh off the show. – jerzygirl45
  • I’m so glad Josh is not on the new show – _kellyream
  • Josh aint even make it 13 days through the flip off before he got kicked to the curb smh – 2Chingylover17

In a sneak peek from The Flip Off, Josh Hall appears overly competitive against the El Moussas and somewhat insecure. However, what made me most joyful wasn’t just the absence of such behavior for an entire season, but the abundant affection displayed towards Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa. It seems that many Reddit users are eagerly yearning for Flip or Flop, and I can understand why! They express their longing as follows:

  • That scene was way more emotional and real than I expected. I started watching Flip or Flop a decade or so ago and it’s my all time favorite HGTV show so that scene really got me. – callandra1121
  • It wasn’t just acting but it was raw emotions. I’m very surprised they showed Christina divorcing Josh like that during the actual episode. Her and Tarek crying was absolutely real with their history and I was surprised he was talking about his surgery and problems with drugs which he admits was a big reason why they divorced in the first place. – BrayIsReal
  • I was surprised at how much I liked this! I enjoyed seeing the old footage of their audition tapes and acknowledge their troubled history. I was shocked that Tarek talked about being reliant on pain meds. They were vulnerable and I’m looking forward to the next episodes. – Admirable-Rent-3923

As a movie buff, I’m saying it looks like Josh Hall won’t be back on set for The Flip Off. Now that their kitchen flip-off dispute has heated up, the competition seems to have moved on to the main bedroom and bathroom. It’ll be interesting to see if the show keeps delivering those surprisingly raw moments between the ex-spouses.

Fresh installments of “The Flip Off” are broadcast every Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on HGTV. If you have a Max subscription, you can watch the previous day’s episodes.
