As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the entertainment industry is as dynamic and unpredictable as any role-playing game I’ve ever played. The annual Power Business Managers event is like leveling up in this grand game, a chance to network, learn, and strategize with the best of the best.
As a dedicated fan, I’m eagerly looking forward to joining my fellow entertainment industry enthusiasts at The Hollywood Reporter’s 14th annual power gathering, taking place in the glamorous city of Beverly Hills next month. This event is a hotspot for the industry’s leading business managers – the strategic and financial advisors who steer the careers of many beloved stars. It promises to be an enlightening and exciting experience!
John McILwee, the creator of J. McILwee & Associates, Inc., has been selected to receive this year’s Business Manager Icon award, recognizing his significant impact in the industry. Notably, McILwee has made appearances on THR‘s prestigious list of Top Business Managers on numerous occasions. Established in 2019, his self-named company manages high-profile clients such as Kevin Costner, Maura Tierney, Jane Lynch, Chris Olsen, Kerry Condon, and Matt Reeves.
As a gamer, I’m excited to attend this year’s Power Business Managers event happening on October 9th at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago. The highlight of the event will be a captivating keynote conversation with Dan Limerick, the COO of WME. Before joining WME in 2016, Dan spent an impressive 13 years at Warner Bros. Television, serving as evp/head of television business affairs. Now, under the umbrella of Endeavor, he oversees the strategic business decisions for client deals at this major talent agency.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be eagerly awaiting this year’s The Hollywood Reporter’s Business Managers list, set to debut in the October 9 issue of their weekly magazine. As a subscriber and fan, I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
The previous year’s event took place at Wolfgang Puck’s CUT in Beverly Hills, where there was a significant discussion between Ted Chervin from CAA, and Mark Landesman of ML Management was awarded the Business Manager Icon prize. Previous recipients of this award include Andrew Meyer from Freemark Financial and Steve Savitsky.
