Violet and Madeleine, renowned for their genre films such as M3GAN and The Black Phone, are preparing to team up for their upcoming holiday project, which combines elements of two classic Christmas movies – Home Alone and Die Hard. According to Variety, the film, still untitled, will commence shooting in Las Vegas next month.
As a dedicated cinephile, I’ve had the privilege to watch the journey of two remarkable actresses unfold on the silver screen. I, for one, have been captivated by Madeleine’s impressive career trajectory. She first caught my attention with her roles in films like American Sniper, then moved on to series work such as Outcast and providing the voice for Bonnie in Toy Story 4. However, it was her breakout performance as Gwen Blake in The Black Phone that truly earned her widespread acclaim from critics. Madeleine’s other notable works include appearances in the Disney Channel’s Secrets of Sulphur Springs, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and more recently, she’s made a splash in the horror genre with M3GAN.
On the other hand, Violet has also garnered recognition for her exceptional talent. She initially grabbed my attention portraying young Nell Crain in The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. Following this success, she appeared in Doctor Sleep and Black Widow before taking on the role of Cady in M3GAN.
Forthcoming movie will be led by Shaun Piccinino, who has experience in holiday-themed films. Previously, he was the director for Netflix’s “California Christmas” and its sequel, as well as “Holiday Harmony” by Max. The screenplay is being penned by John Ducey, known for writing the script of the McGraw sisters’ first joint production, “The Curse Of The Necklace”. Violet, Madeleine, their mother Jackie, along with Ali Afshar, Daniel Aspromonte, and Christina Moore are serving as producers for this project.
Violet & Madeleine McGraw Return to Terror in ‘Black Phone 2’ and ‘M3GAN 2.0’
The next action-packed holiday movie (still unnamed) will be the second project for these two sisters, after “The Curse of the Necklace” in 2024. This supernatural horror story is set in the 1960s and focuses on the Davis family, where Laura Davis (played by Sarah Lind) and her daughters, played by the McGraw sisters, face a frightening force that’s been released by an ancient necklace. You can stream this movie on Tubi, and it also stars Henry Thomas. Not only do they act in the film, but the sisters were also producers for this project.
As the sisters embark on their holiday journey, they will simultaneously make appearances in eagerly awaited horror sequels this year. Madeleine will once again portray her character from 2022’s “The Black Phone,” scheduled to hit theaters on October 17, 2025. Scott Derrickson returns as director for this production, and he co-wrote the script with C. Robert Cargill. The cast will include Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, and McGraw, with Demián Bichir joining the team. In “The Black Phone 2,” there will be a time leap, focusing on the characters as they grapple with high school life. Although plot specifics are still confidential, we eagerly anticipate that the sequel will build upon the supernatural aspects of the original film and delve further into Hawke’s chilling portrayal of The Grabber.
In the sequel to last year’s popular horror-comedy, “M3GAN 2.0”, Violet will make an appearance. This film picks up after the events of 2023’s hit movie “M3GAN”. Two years following the turmoil caused by M3GAN, Gemma (Williams) decides to reactivate her. The new threat is Amelia, a more advanced military weapon developed using stolen technology from M3GAN. Alongside Allison Williams and McGraw, the AI doll known as M3GAN will once again be in the spotlight. Directed by Gerard Johnstone, “M3GAN 2.0” is set to hit theaters on June 27, 2025.
