At the helm of the popular cultural sensation “Hot Ones”, Sean Evans is no stranger to grilling A-list celebrities while they sweat through spicy wings and insightful questions. However, this week in Park City, Evans ventured into uncharted waters by participating in his inaugural Sundance Film Festival, strolling down red carpets and engaging with journalists instead.
Evans, sporting his signature grin, shared with The Hollywood Reporter that he slightly prefers your side because it offers more control. He admitted to feeling a bit off-balance around you, but assuredly stated he’s prepared,” said Evans before the glamorous fundraiser Celebrating Sundance Institute at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley on Friday evening.
After securing a deal to purchase First We Feast’s production company from Buzzfeed, along with a group of investors which includes YouTube sensations Rhett and Link (who are also present in Park City), Evans found himself delighted by his Sundance experience. “It’s been quite enjoyable,” he shared. “This city is beautiful, the atmosphere is fantastic. It’s intriguing to witness the enthusiasm people have for films here. I’m simply immersing myself in all of it.
As a fortunate online celebrity, my recent journey was a blend of work and enjoyment, an advantage of this digital fame. “The performance offers me extraordinary encounters and I get to explore amazing destinations and gain exclusive insights into numerous fascinating aspects,” I shared. “Every moment of it is something I deeply appreciate.
He’s excited about Oscar weekend and shared with THR that he has some significant plans. “I’ll be attending the Oscars,” he confirmed. “I’ve recently been measured for a tuxedo. Given the situation [the wildfires] in Los Angeles, things have had to be adjusted, but we hope to conduct some engaging sit-down interviews with various people. I’m eagerly anticipating it.
It’s unclear whether Evans is entering into a formal collaboration with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences or if his work that day will take him off the red carpet, but The Hollywood Reporter has requested further details.
For now, Evans will carry on enjoying his time at Sundance. It appears he’s making the best of it. Recently, he was spotted at TAO Park City on a chilly Saturday night when Jennifer Lopez gave an unexpected 10-minute performance amidst snowy weather in Park City, with temperatures barely reaching the teens. Despite his role as host for Hot Ones, Evans is just as adept at handling the cold.
Evans, an alumnus of the University of Illinois, shared that he hails from Chicago and his philosophy is simple: excessive heat brings discomfort, while extreme cold causes pain and misery. Preferably, he’d rather endure warmth over chill.
Hot Ones drops a new episode every Thursday morning on YouTube.
