Gareth Edwards, well-versed in colossal reptiles from his 2014 remake of the Godzilla franchise in America, took charge of the movie that continues and expands on the mythology established in earlier films. Intriguingly, a pharmaceutical giant is financing a perilous journey to an isolated island, orchestrated by undercover operations expert Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), alongside her trusted associate Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali, a two-time Oscar winner). Unsurprisingly, nature’s innate resilience soon manifests in the most unexpected way… offering an unwelcome menu option of human sustenance.

Edwards explained that the project reminded him of a heist movie combined with Steven Spielberg’s beloved films from his childhood. Specifically, they were drawing inspiration from “Jaws”, “Indiana Jones”, and the amazement and awe of the original “Jurassic Park”.
