In Monster Hunter Wilds, though fighting monsters is the primary focus, the real endgame has always revolved around fashion. With Title Update 2, players can now create and adorn Layered Weapons, making sure that every weapon carried into a hunt aligns flawlessly with the rest of their attire.
How to craft and equip Layered Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds
To use a Layered Weapon, it’s essential that you first create the top-tier variant of any weapon within its class. For instance, if you wish to alter the appearance of a Rathian Greatsword into a Rathalos Greatsword, you must craft the ultimate, 8-star rarity Rathalos weapon, known as the Rathalos Firesword.
After acquiring the eighth rarest weapon from the tree, go to your tent at either the main camp or a temporary campsite. Navigate to the Appearance Menu, click on Equipment Appearance. Over the weapon you wish to transform into a Layered Weapon, select it, then pick the appearance you prefer.
Keep in mind that your Layered Weapons are only compatible with characters of their specific type. For example, you can’t give a Longsword’s look to a Sword and Shield combination; the game won’t allow you to access the sub-menu until you’ve first crafted the necessary base weapon at the Smithy.
Essentially, if you don’t have a substantial arsenal of the strongest weapons in the game yet, it’s time to start crafting as there’s plenty more progress to be made. In the interim, feel free to explore our specialized Monster Hunter Wilds page for additional insights about the game.
