Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds, like other RE Engine titles, offers an expansive open world. However, its technical aspects are somewhat inconsistent across all platforms, leading to performance issues. Fortunately, it provides a variety of settings that can be adjusted to optimize gameplay on PC.
Although you can’t alter certain parts of the presentation directly from the game settings menu, I can show you a method to turn off the vignette effect in Monster Hunter Worlds if that’s what you wish to do:
1. Press the ‘Options’ (PlayStation) or ‘Esc’ (PC) button on your controller or keyboard to open the game menu.
2. Navigate to the ‘System’ tab.
3. Inside the ‘System’ tab, look for the ‘Graphics’ sub-menu.
4. In the ‘Graphics’ settings, find the option labeled as ‘Vignette Intensity’. This is the setting responsible for the vignette effect in the game.
5. Adjust the slider to the left until it’s all the way down (minimum value) to disable the vignette effect.
6. Save your changes and return to the game to see the difference.
Disable the Vignette Effect in Monster Hunter Wilds
Almost every game developed by RE Engine features a noticeable border effect, known as a vignette, which makes the screen’s edges slightly darker.
In most games made by RE Engine, there is a distinct vignette effect that creates a darkened border around the visible screen.

Essentially, this boils down to individual choice, but we’d appreciate if CAPCOM implemented a feature to turn off this specific function. Fortunately, prayerdog provides a solution through their top-notch REFramework tool, which effortlessly disables it with a single click.
- Head over to the following GitHub link, and click on the MHWILDS.zip under Assets
- Extract the downloaded zip file in a separate location.
- From this, you only need the dinput8.dll file. Copy that where Monster Hunter Wilds is installed:
\common\MonsterHunterWilds
- Once you have copied the file there, launch Monster Hunter Wilds.
- The REframework window will automatically pop up on the left side of the screen, which you can hide or bring back by pressing the Ins key.
- Give it a second to initialize, and then expand the Camera section below VR.
- Check “Enabled” and also check “Disable Vignette“

In any scene, you have the option to quickly compare the game’s appearance with and without a vignette effect. The vignette might be your preference initially, but you can easily adjust its brightness level using the slider provided below. Once you’re satisfied with how the game looks, simply press the ‘Ins’ key to hide the REFramework User Interface.
Credit for developing and testing the patch belongs to praydog. For more information about their work, check out their Patreon or GitHub profiles. The process is straightforward, and it can also help resolve ultrawide issues. It’s recommended to monitor their release page for any future updates that might be beneficial.
Should you ever choose to uninstall the REFramework tool, just locate and delete the file named “dinput8.dll” from the installation directory of Monster Hunter Wilds.
I could enhance my gaming experience significantly by minimizing the blur effect and installing the high-definition texture pack. It’ll undeniably make the game look more polished and visually appealing!
