As a seasoned Fortnite player with countless hours under my belt, I must admit, the weekly quests in Chapter 5 Season 4 have been quite a rollercoaster ride! The latest one, requiring me to recruit five characters or defeated henchmen, initially seemed straightforward enough.
In the second week of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, a weekly mission requires you to enlist either five characters or defeat enemy minions. However, it’s important to note that there are some intricacies involved in completing this task, so understanding these before you start is advisable.
How to hire characters in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4
In the current Fortnite season, you can engage a character simply by approaching them and initiating interaction. However, be mindful that it will require a handful of Gold Bars to invite them into your team, so stockpile some if you have not already done so.
In the recently released Marvel-inspired season, some fresh Non-Player Characters (NPCs) have been introduced that you can recruit. We’ve provided details about these characters in a different tutorial.
After bringing on board a total of five characters spread over multiple games, you will accomplish the weekly mission.
Currently, this is the only way to complete the quest, as I’ll explain in the next section.
Can you recruit a defeated henchman?
At the start of Season 4’s Chapter 5, there was an interesting gameplay feature where you could enlist fallen foes as allies in your team. To activate this, you had to bring a foe down, approach them, and engage with them. This action would cause them to tag along with you for the rest of the match, or until they were vanquished by other players.
Initially, Epic Games deemed this feature excessively powerful upon its release, promptly disabling it soon afterward. Consequently, at present, you cannot enlist fallen henchmen.
It seems the weekly quests haven’t been revised properly, as the quest for Week 2 still mentions the mechanic that was previously deactivated. However, there’s some relief in being able to employ other NPCs temporarily – without them, we’d be in a real pickle!
If Epic restores the option to recruit defeated minions, you’d have another chance to fulfill the task when they reinstate it. It may take a couple of weeks for this update to occur.
