Some objects in Wilds don’t allow for direct selection or control over their appearance. One example is the Scarred Scale. Although you can slightly increase your odds of discovering one, the outcome largely depends on chance. Let’s go ahead and give it a shot at finding one.
Where To Find Scarred Scales
In the world of Monster Hunter Wilds, Scarred Scales are among a select group of materials that aren’t something you can discover on your own. Instead, you must lean on others to acquire these elusive items. There are essentially two methods for procuring Scarred Scales, and both heavily favor chance over skill.
One way to acquire Scarred Scales is by engaging in trade with two specific merchants. Sekka, residing in Suja, occasionally offers them in exchange for a Large Goldescale Vase from the Iceshard Cliffs. On the other hand, Gawdygog, who operates out of the Wudwud Hideout and deals primarily in rare items, might also have Scarred Scales available at a steep price of ten Ancient Wyvern Coins.
Traders frequently update their inventory on a daily basis, allowing you the option to either hold your ground or take a break, but it’s quite rare for a new stock to appear this way. On the other hand, Gawdygog often provides items more consistently, though the price might be steep and inaccessible if you lack the necessary funds to pay him.
An alternative approach is to opt for Material Retrieval, which operates randomly and may take some time but won’t cost you anything. When dispatching Apar for this task, there’s a possibility they might bring back Scarred Scales. However, since you can’t request it directly, it’s more about patience and a touch of good fortune.
To maximize your Scarred Scale earnings and boost your chances of finding materials, remember to turn on a Gathering Boost prior to trading. This will double the number of Scarred Scales you receive from traders, as well as improve the likelihood of discovering them with Material Retrieval. Keep in mind that Suja is categorized under the Iceshard Cliffs region for this purpose.
How To Use Scarred Scales
As a gamer, once I’ve scratched up at least one Scarred Scale, I gain access to the Battle Armor, which is exclusively designed for my hunter. That’s quite a bundle, especially since all these abilities are at least level two!
To craft each item within the set, you need one weathered scale individually. This means a total of five weathered scales are required to complete the entire set. With some good trades and boosts from gathering, you’ll easily accumulate them quickly.
