I Asked Private Party To Name Their Favorite Tag Team, And The Answer Sent Us On A Trip Down Memory Lane

As a gamer with years of memories intertwined with the vibrant world of professional wrestling, I can wholeheartedly affirm that the Hardy Boyz have left an indelible mark on my gaming heart. Growing up, their unique blend of charisma, daring stunts, and electrifying performances captivated me like no other duo could.

When speaking with wrestlers, I often start conversations by discussing the wrestling icons who have inspired them in some capacity. In my chat with the AEW World Tag Team Champions, Private Party, ahead of their Full Gear four-way match, I had a hunch about which legends they might mention. Nevertheless, it was worth asking. I’m grateful that I did.

It’s not unexpected; Isiah Kennedy and Marq Quen chuckled when the topic arose and countered by asking who my favorite wrestlers were growing up. Given their wrestling background, in-ring flair, and charismatic personas, I swiftly replied with the Hardy Boyz. Kennedy agreed wholeheartedly, saying “Definitely the Hardyz” and followed up with:

Hardyz served as our inspiration to become professional wrestlers. Jeff was my initial introduction to the world of wrestling, and upon further investigation, I discovered he had a sibling who shared the same career path. This discovery sparked my interest even more.

Subsequently, there was a poignant journey through memory, filled with speed and significance, during which we reminisced about how Matt and Jeff Hardy inspired countless future stars, provided fans with unforgettable moments from the Attitude Era, and continuously evolved themselves and wrestling for the past quarter of a century.

But what stood out most about the duo? Kennedy added:

For me, what truly made the Hardy Boyz unique was their distinct appearance. As a child, this difference immediately grabbed my attention. You see, in wrestling, most men wear bulky clothes like trunks and tights. But these guys appeared in fishnet shirts, armbands, baggy cargo pants, and face paint… And I thought to myself, these guys are really cool.

Speaking about his childhood memories of the Hardy Boyz, Quen expressed his amazement at encountering Matt and Jeff in person years later, discovering their larger-than-life presence.

When I caught sight of the Hardyz, it struck me as if I might have a chance. And when I eventually crossed paths with them, they turned out to be quite large individuals. They’re hulking figures, indeed. However, I had remembered them being part of the cruiserweight division in the past. What?

Kennedy, Quen, and I, despite hailing from different regions and backgrounds, found common ground in our youthful admiration for these two daring North Carolina brothers who performed jaw-dropping stunts. Reflecting on this, Kennedy recounted how the duo’s charm and demeanor captivated him instantly.

Then, as you listen to the music, you witness Jeff dancing, and Matt acting wildly. To make it even more thrilling, they’re performing daring stunts! As a child, isn’t that just amazing? They leap from ladders over tables, use chairs, perform Swanton bombs, and the Twist of Fate – all the exciting stuff. Honestly, I’m completely hooked by their performances. I can’t help but appreciate them.

Over time, the Private Party has had a significant connection with the Hardy Boyz, particularly with Matt. Through various collaborations across different years, their bond has been quite noteworthy. Following the Hardyz’s victory over Kennedy and Quen for the House of Glory Tag Team Championship, Matt later teamed up with them in AEW. At one instance, Kennedy adopted the name Brother Zay during his tenure, while Quen was sidelined due to an injury.

Time alone can reveal whether Private Party will battle Matt and Jeff Hardy at a future event, but knowing they might square off in the ring during an upcoming AEW pay-per-view or any other venue would definitely pump up my anticipation!
