I Finally Watched The Fall Guy And I Need To Talk About The Twist

As a lifelong enthusiast of action movies, I must say that “The Fall Guy” has undeniably left an indelible mark on my cinematic memory. The film masterfully intertwines high-octane stunts with humor and suspense, creating a unique blend that sets it apart from its contemporaries.

I recently had the pleasure of watching “The Fall Guy,” a movie that provided plenty of fun. It’s not necessarily one of Emily Blunt’s or Ryan Gosling’s finest performances, but it does make an exciting contribution to their acting repertoire. Action enthusiasts should find themselves greatly enjoying this film, as it offers numerous explosive scenes, heartfelt romantic moments, and captivating musical sequences.

The elements are in place for an enormous success at the box office. Despite not meeting its full potential in ticket sales, it’s a movie brimming with personality. It’s undeniably endearing, even with its absurdity. You can sense the infectious energy throughout, from the film’s major plot twist to its final unveiling.

The story’s villain is one of the things that makes the movie so entertaining.

Warning: The Fall Guy spoilers are ahead. Proceed with caution.

I Loved That The Fall Guy Villain Is An Actor Because It Works With The Film’s Premise So Well

The Fall Guy is a motion picture tailored for cinephiles, crafted with a deep reverence for the world of cinema. It delves into the realm of Hollywood while simultaneously honoring the allure of filmmaking, and might even spark an admiration for the genre of action films.”

The movie’s affection for the film industry is humorously evident in its portrayal of the main villain as an actor. This seems like a witty acknowledgment of the occasional challenging behaviors exhibited by some actors. Despite their roles not requiring them to be truly malicious, they can sometimes appear as formidable adversaries to the crew. In the film The Fall Guy, a somewhat complex plot unfolds around the disappearance of Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). What transpired and why was unexpectedly revealed, leaving me surprised.

This is a surprising development, but not unbelievable. Many actors could be narcissistic sociopaths for all we know. It’s a rare occurrence to see a movie with a character who’s actor who is also a villain.

This elevates the comedic element as an actor portrays an exaggerated villain, which fits perfectly given their resources, power, and sway. In this case, Tom plays the antagonist in a comical fashion, maintaining a light-hearted atmosphere. His outlandishness borders on caricature, almost transforming him into a cartoonish villain.

The movie additionally focuses on the daring lives of stunt performers, a job frequently eclipsed by actors in the spotlight. Watching the stuntman emerge as the protagonist and take center stage is enjoyable; it’s a heartfelt homage to stunt performers. Having an actor portray the main antagonist underscores this appreciation for stunt doubles by illustrating their underestimation.

The Twist Sets Up A Really Fun Final Act

In the climax, Colt (Ryan Gosling) and Jody (Emily Blunt) work tirelessly to uncover the truth about Tom and Gail (Hannah Waddingham). As the story progresses, their attempts to thwart them grow increasingly far-fetched. This is accentuated by an increase in action sequences and fight scenes that border on the absurd, testing just how much they can push reality before it becomes over-the-top or comical.

Making this bold move leads to spectacular outcomes, showcasing thrilling action and battle sequences that are breathtakingly beautiful. Additionally, as the story unfolds, there are delightful scenes filled with humor and charm, culminating in an exceptional guest appearance, making it all the more enjoyable.

The Fall Guy Twist Allows Ryan Gosling And Aaron Taylor Johnson To Play Off Each Other In Very Entertaining Ways

In some humorous parts of the film, “The Fall Guy”, Ryan Gosling and Aaron Taylor-Johnson shared the screen. Despite not having many shared scenes, the ones they did were uproarious. One particularly hilarious moment was when it was unveiled that Tom was the mastermind behind everything. The laughter mostly stemmed from Gosling’s dialogue and the shenanigans of Johnson’s character.

The situation is reminiscent of a clash of eccentricities; one with dialogue, the other with actions. Johnson skillfully adopts an acting style that suits his character’s peculiarity. Both Gosling and Johnson display remarkable acting talents, making their scenes captivating. Johnson has a unique ability to seamlessly transform into his characters, embodying them completely. Gosling, on the other hand, is consistently dependable, delivering outstanding performances. Each actor shines individually while also sharing numerous hilarious moments together.

During the initial part of the film, Johnson and Gosling don’t share many scenes together. However, as the story progresses, their interactions become more significant, especially in key scenes towards the end. This is the period where the movie truly reaches its climax.

Hannah Waddingham Also Gets To Show Her Best Villain Side In The Fall Guy

Although I’m not well-versed in Hannah Waddingham’s full film and TV career, I’m certainly a fan of Ted Lasso. That being said, I knew her from that show, but her transformation in The Fall Guy took me by surprise. Waddingham has the knack for portraying characters that seem perfect for wicked roles. Her character as Gail in Ted Lasso only served to reinforce my initial thoughts.

In this film, she’s outstanding. She manages to be both humorous and intimidating, hinting at her willingness to break laws for the sake of safeguarding her possessions and future. Waddingham stands out remarkably in the movie and is undoubtedly one of the finest actors in The Fall Guy, leaving me eager to see her take on more villainous characters.

It Makes The Film’s Final Moments Even More Surprising

Following the end credits, there’s an additional scene that discloses the grim outcome for Gail and Tom. Regrettably, they don’t manage to evade their fate. In a twist of irony, Tom meets his demise when he recklessly ventures into a perilous zone, ending up in a massive explosion. This moment is both startling and somewhat humorous. It serves as a form of karmic retribution for Tom’s wrongdoings, yet it also reflects his pride, as he sought to perform all his own stunts. His final instance resembles a botched stunt, making it a delightfully devious moment.

The impact is amplified because numerous viewers may not realize to stay till the end of the credits for a glimpse of it. Yet another witty tribute to the action movie genre, this reminds me of Marvel’s revival and their iconic end credit scenes. This seems like another acknowledgement of the allure of action movies.

The movie “The Fall Guy” is enjoyable from start to finish, but in my opinion, it truly excels during its latter part.
