‘I Have A Confession To Make’: After Joining The Voice As A Mega Mentor, Sting Gets Honest About Being Tapped For The Show

As a seasoned gamer who has seen countless seasons of The Voice and other singing competitions, I must admit that Sting’s confession about never having watched the show before is quite amusing. However, it’s also refreshing to see someone with such an impressive musical background stepping out of their comfort zone and taking on a new challenge.

In addition to the already impressive lineup of coaches – Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, and Michael Bublé on The Voice – two more renowned artists will join as Mega Mentors for Season 26. Sting, one such artist, will assist Stefani and Coach SnooP in the challenging Three-Way Knockouts round. Interestingly, Sting shared a surprising revelation about his decision to participate in this popular TV event in 2024.

Music legend Sting, formerly of The Police, is set to share his knowledge with both Team Snoop and Team Gwen during the commencement of the Three-Way Knockouts on November 11. Meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson, who has previously coached teams on The Voice for two seasons, will offer guidance to members of Teams Reba and Michael. Although Sting boasts a wealth of experience from his time on The Voice, it appears that his counterpart may have less familiarity with the process, as Sting shared with People.

I have a confession to make. I’d never seen The Voice. When I was given the premise of the show, I was a little bit anxious, but I know Gwen very well. I’m a big admirer of Snoop Dogg, and so I thought, I’m going to take a risk. I’m going to go on the show even though I’m a little trepidatious.

It’s quite unlikely that his limited understanding of the competition will prevent him from offering valuable advice to the contestants. After all, Sting has extensive experience in this field, having earned 17 Grammy Awards, an Emmy, and a Tony Award nomination, as well as four Oscar nominations over almost five decades.

Just like other coaches have repeatedly expressed this season, they find their job incredibly rewarding. Reba McEntire even declared Season 26 as her favorite. Sting enjoyed providing guidance and witnessing its implementation, describing the experience as both enriching and delightful. He further added that it was a source of great joy for him.

I am genuinely excited about the performance. I’m proud of myself for being involved, and I admire the courage of the young vocalists enduring this challenging experience. Despite its difficulties, I’ve found it incredibly enjoyable thus far.

It’s pleasing to learn that Sting took delight in the whole experience along with the coaches, possibly due to the fact that he doesn’t have to face the difficult decisions about team members like Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani do.

In the Three-Way Elimination Rounds, team members will compete directly against each other, and it’ll be up to the coach to pick only one to move on to the Top 20 for the Playoffs. Each coach will have a chance to bring back one eliminated player using their Save, and they can also steal a member from another team with their Steal. If Coach Snoop found the Battles challenging, he’ll definitely need some extra strength from his Gangster Spirit to make it through the Knockout Rounds.

Before all those events unfold, I’m thrilled to witness Sting’s unique take on “The Voice,” as he’s new to the show. We don’t have much time left! The Season 26 Knockouts begin airing at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, November 11, on NBC. If you miss it, you can stream it the next day with a Peacock subscription.
