As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in various virtual worlds, I can’t help but draw parallels between the real-life antics of Hollywood stars and the escapades of our favorite video game characters. The saga of Jennifer Garner being trapped in an elevator during the Deadpool and Wolverine World Premiere is a tale that would make any gamer chuckle. It’s reminiscent of those moments when your character gets stuck in a loading screen, or worse, falls into an endless pit of doom.
During their global promotional tour for the July release of Deadpool and Wolverine, stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman jet-setted around the world. This whirlwind journey culminated in a packed week, starting with the movie’s premiere in New York City and ending at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H with a rowdy fan screening of the Marvel sequel. At this event, Reynolds and Jackman thrilled the crowd by revealing all the famous faces appearing in Deadpool and Wolverine, from Chris Evans as The Human Torch to Wesley Snipes as Blade. What we didn’t know until now is that Jennifer Garner was unable to attend the entire screening due to unspecified reasons. Here’s why.
At present, Deadpool and Wolverine can be found on Blu-ray and 4K, while their Disney+ premiere is scheduled for November 12. Dafne Keen, reprising her role as X23 in the film, had an exclusive chat with TopMob to discuss her experience on set and her thoughts on Channing Tatum’s Gambit accent. When I enquired about the atmosphere in Hall H while the cast waited backstage for Ryan Reynolds to introduce them, Keen shared a humorous anecdote involving Jennifer Garner, along with her heartwarming response. According to Keen:
Jennifer… I don’t know if you know this. Jennifer was stuck in an elevator for the whole movie. She literally arrived… yeah, yeah, yeah. She was supposed to be there. And I kept texting her, being like, ‘Where are you?’ Because we’d been texting, being like, ‘Can’t wait to see you!’ And then she wasn’t arriving, and I was like, ‘Jennifer?’ And then she arrived, like, so stressed. I was like, ‘What happened?’ She was like, ‘I was stuck in an elevator for an hour!’ She’d been stuck in this elevator for the whole time we’d been at Hall H. She even posted it to Instagram. She did a little vlog. It’s quite funny. It was hilarious. But we were all really, really excited. We were all skipping, and hugging each other. We couldn’t believe that we’d even been the tiniest part (of this movie).
In the video, Ryan Reynolds presents the cast on Hall H’s stage. It’s evident that Jennifer Garner appears anxious as she makes her entrance, possibly due to all the energy built up from being stuck in an elevator for more than an hour.

Witnessing Dafne Keen’s heartfelt response to Jennifer Garner’s absence from the memorable Hall H screening of Deadpool and Wolverine brings a feeling of camaraderie to my heart. This bond is evident among this group, whether it’s Chris Evans willingly saying whatever Ryan Reynolds writes for him in the gritty end-credits scene, or Wesley Snipes firmly asserting that there will only be one Blade – potentially thwarting Mahershala Ali’s plans to portray the Daywalker.
It seems like elevators are a common source of trouble for celebrities. From Jennifer Garner’s incident at Comic-Con to Anna Kendrick needing rescue in Toronto, and Ryan Seacrest getting stuck during New Year’s Eve, it appears that they can be quite dangerous. I think I’ll opt for taking the stairs from now on.
If you’re a Disney+ subscriber, you’ll get to witness Dafne Keen teaming up once more with Chris Evans, Channing Tatum, Wesley Snipes, and Jennifer Garner! Starting from November 12th, the characters of Deadpool and Wolverine will become available for streaming on Disney+.
