As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of binge-watching under my belt, I can confidently say that A Man On The Inside is not just another show to add to your queue – it’s a treasure worth seeking out and savoring.

These days, there’s an overwhelming amount of content to watch on television, with streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video adding to the mix. With so many options for Marvel and Star Wars series, action, sci-fi, and more, it can feel like a vast ocean of choices. Whenever I receive a trusted recommendation, I often find myself drawn towards it. For instance, several people had suggested the excellent series “A Man On The Inside”, which is available on Netflix. I gave it a try, and I was completely captivated by it. And today, I got the best news – Netflix announced that they’ll be releasing new episodes of “A Man On The Inside”.

Contrary to anticipation, Netflix chose not to immediately renew the comedy series “A Man On The Inside” following its cliffhanger ending. However, this morning, we’ve got some exciting news – reports indicate that “A Man on the Inside Season 2” will debut on Netflix in 2025! Michael Schur, the show’s creator and executive producer, made an official statement saying:

Thanks to our collaborators at Netflix and Universal TV, as well as the talented and charming writers, actors, and production team, it’s an outstanding group of individuals – with one exception: young up-and-comer Ted Danson, who can be a bit challenging to work with.

As an avid TV enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about diving into “A Man On The Inside” Season 1 before the next chapter unfolds. Here’s what makes it stand out for me as the best fresh series out there – a pure joy from start to finish!

Ted Danson is a consummate pro who has mastered the sitcom format.

It’s well-known that Ted Danson has graced our screens for many years with his roles in popular sitcoms such as “Cheers” and more recently, “The Good Place,” both created by Michael Schur. Watching Danson in “A Man On The Inside” showcases his deep understanding of the 26-minute sitcom format. He knows when to bring laughs and when to pull at our heartstrings effectively. Danson has a knack for delivering just the right amount, neither too much nor too little. This restraint allows Schur and the writers the liberty to guide the show towards unanticipated but logical destinations, guided by the storyline.

In the first season of “A Man on the Inside”, we start off with an intriguing mystery about missing jewelry within a retirement home. However, as the story unfolds, it evolves into a poignant exploration of loneliness and aging, making for a thought-provoking discourse akin to the buzz of hornets. And Danson skillfully manages to maintain the balance between these themes with his exceptional acting abilities. The next season can (and should) be something totally different.

The debut season of “A Man on the Inside” saw Ted Danson’s character, Charles, employed by a private investigator named Julie (played by Lilah Richcreek Estrada). Widowed Charles took on an undercover role as a senior citizen to probe a string of thefts within the Pacific View Retirement Community in San Francisco. It was only natural that he developed bonds with the residents, particularly the captivating Stephen McKinley Henderson, a solitary man named Calbert who loved playing backgammon.

Towards the end of Season 1, Julie received a new assignment. Although no details were disclosed, she reluctantly came to terms with the fact that Charles might be the best person to assist her on this upcoming case. He agreed to help, but the nature of his task remained undisclosed.

My hope is that A Man on the Inside Season 2 is something drastically different than the retirement community. There are several other aspects of Charles that make him a unique lead. He was a professor of architecture. He has a daughter and three hilarious grandchildren. There are really good situations that one can drop Charles into, and still be amusing, emotional, and fun. That’s not to say we can’t bring Stephen McKinley Henderson back. Charles and Calbert undercover makes me laugh just typing that. Figure out some way for the characters of Season 1 to play along, when it’s appropriate.

It seems that this show’s plot has reached a point where it can be further developed over several seasons, and I am eager to discover what lies ahead for Julie and Charles. Danson’s performance as the character is delightful, and Michael Schur is skilled at tailoring his writing to his actors’ abilities. Let’s hope we get a second season of A Man on the Inside, so our beloved spy can return from undercover duty.
