Attention! This discussion revolves around the third season of “The White Lotus” and its episode titled “Special Treatments,” which was broadcasted on February 23. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can stream it with a Max subscription.
The intriguing journey of “The White Lotus” continues with its third season slated for 2025 TV broadcasts, sparking a flurry of theories among viewers. Timothy Ratliff (portrayed by Jason Isaacs) appears to be in deep trouble, as suggested by a tense phone conversation where a business associate mentioned that he was “implicated” and required legal representation. The voice at the other end of the line seemed familiar, and it was a pleasant surprise to discover that the cameo was from an Academy Award winner.
According to EW, Ke Huy Quan lent his voice to a character named Kenny, whom Timothy seems to have helped out in the past for a relatively small sum of $10 million. This seemingly beneficial act has turned into a problem for them. In the premiere of Season 3, when Timothy found out that the Wall Street Journal was investigating their questionable business dealings, he couldn’t get hold of Kenny who was in Thailand.
In “Special Treatments,” when Timothy eventually manages to reach Kenny, Ke Huy Quan’s anxious voice reveals that a colleague in their company has tattled on them to the FBI. Timothy understands all too well that he’ll be facing some serious allegations related to money laundering and bribery.
As a movie enthusiast, I find myself marveling at the extraordinary resurgence of Ke Huy Quan’s career. Once a cherished child actor, known for his roles as Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Data in The Goonies, Quan took a hiatus from acting for years due to limited opportunities. However, two decades later, he made an astounding comeback, earning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
In the past, “The White Lotus” has featured an Academy Award winner for a significant guest role. During Season 2, Laura Dern provided the voice for Abby, the estranged wife of Michael Imperioli’s Dominic. Dern didn’t physically appear on the show, but it would be delightful if Ke Huy Quan’s character Kenny were to escape and link up with Timothy in Thailand.
In a delightful twist, Parker Posey is feasting on her role as Victoria, Timothy’s wife. It’s hard not to envision the uproarious comedy that might unfold if she were to share a scene with Kenny.
Jason Isaacs’ character might have committed a white-collar offense, but he’s definitely not the only suspicious figure at the Thai resort. As the puzzles unfold and Tanya McQuoid was killed off in Season 2, it seems unlikely that her husband won’t factor into the storyline somehow, especially since Jon Gries’ character Greg reappeared in Season 3.
Don’t miss out! Find out whose body was discovered in Season 3 of The White Lotus, and whether we’ll get to see more of Ke Huy Quan. Catch the latest episodes every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO or stream them on Max.
