As a film enthusiast who’s seen more movies than I can count and traveled across continents in pursuit of cinematic treasures, I must admit that the Harry Potter Studio Tour was an unexpected delight. Though I’ve never been deeply enchanted by the magical world of Hogwarts, this tour has certainly cast a spell on me!
Frankly speaking, I wouldn’t call myself an avid fan of Harry Potter, but I’m also not someone who dislikes it intensely. I’ve watched all the films at least once, yet I haven’t read the books. To be honest, I find the universe created by J.K. Rowling and the filmmakers intriguing, but it’s not something that has deeply captivated me emotionally. For me, these movies are outstanding, particularly among those produced in the 2000s and beyond, but I haven’t devoted a significant amount of time to this fandom.
More recently, during a family vacation in the U.K., I tagged along with my fellow Harry Potter enthusiasts to explore the Warner Bros. Studio Tour – Harry Potter Studio. Located approximately 20 miles from London, this tour is not to be missed by any true fan. The experience was superbly crafted and absolutely justified the investment of time and money. For me, what truly sealed the deal and surpassed my expectations was a particular segment: the grand model of Hogwarts at the conclusion of the tour.
The Tour Is Fantastic
As a dedicated Harry Potter fan, stepping into this magical world feels like boarding a Hogwarts Express train at Universal Studios or Disney World. You walk through an enchanting queue, surrounded by captivating photos and fascinating text that takes you on a journey through the entire Harry Potter movie series. Once you reach the end of the line, a knowledgeable guide shares some exciting insights about what’s to come. To fully immerse yourself in this magical adventure, you settle into your seat for an exclusive movie presentation hosted by the very actors who brought the beloved characters of Harry Potter to life.
Ultimately, the screen retracts, unveiling the entrance to the famous Hogwarts dining hall. Upon entering, one is greeted by the authentic set of this iconic location, leaving even casual fans like myself feeling awestruck, particularly in response to the floating candles. The guided portion of the tour concludes here, and you are now free to delve into the various exhibits at your leisure. The ambiance shifts from a theme park-esque atmosphere to that of a museum, inviting further exploration.

Sets, Props, And Costumes
The sheer amount of film-used sets, props and costumes from the Harry Potter movies is a little overwhelming. There are wands, trophies and Golden Snitches galore. Dozens of paintings that hang on the walls of Hogwarts are on display, and there are even some very impressive examples of whole sets from the movies, including the potions classroom and, most impressively, two different versions of Gringotts: one before its destruction in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and one after. Of course, the set for platform 9 3/4 is included, too.
Following numerous events and additional surprises, you ultimately reach the dramatic culmination of your journey, which takes place in a dimly lit chamber housing an awe-inspiring replica of Hogwarts that dominates the entire area.

The Hogwarts Model
The individuals responsible for designing the tour clearly had a well-thought-out plan when they positioned the model at the finale. Frankly, I must say, it’s astonishing. Despite the rest being equally impressive, it’s the 1:24 scale model, which was used for several exterior movie scenes, that will leave you absolutely amazed, just as it left me.
From my perspective, the level of detail in this film model surpasses all expectations, as one would anticipate from a model of such a renowned film series like Harry Potter. It’s not just visually stunning with its accurate depiction of Hogwarts School and its grounds, but it’s also artistically superior in its presentation. So much so that it makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into the world of Harry Potter itself.

As I navigated through this intricately designed miniature landscape, a serpentine path guided me from its loftiest vantage to the very depths below, offering me a comprehensive perspective from all imaginable angles. During my visit, the model was festively adorned for Christmas, transforming it into a dreamy winter wonderland with a layer of snow blanketing every corner.
Absolutely, John Williams’ enchanting music accompanies your stroll, enhancing the dramatic atmosphere. To be honest, I found it so captivating that I would suggest anyone, even casual fans like myself, to make an effort to visit it. It has definitely sparked my interest in revisiting the entire Harry Potter series with my Max subscription.
