Anticipation for Ryan Coogler’s upcoming horror film “Sinners,” slated for release in 2025, has kept me absolutely thrilled. Each bit of info we’ve received has only fueled my excitement even further. From what I’ve gathered, there hasn’t been a single negative comment about the project, which speaks volumes. As we enter the final countdown with just a week to go, initial reviews from critics have been published, and they are nothing short of astounding. While I typically don’t place much faith in others’ opinions, even I can’t help but be blown away by these exceptional reviews, and my excitement levels are skyrocketing!
Initially, responses to the film titled “Sinners” were overwhelmingly positive, with even the renowned Spike Lee expressing his admiration, calling it his “best cinematic experience” in years. Consequently, it’s unsurprising that at the time of this writing, Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” has a flawless 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is quite an accomplishment, particularly for a horror film.
Some of the top critic comments include:
- “Sinners is propulsive and stirring entertainment, messy but always compelling. The film’s fascinating array of genres and tropes and ideas swirls together in a way this is, I suppose singularly American.” – Richard Lawson of Vanity Fair
- “A film of breathtaking audacity” – Linda Marric of HeyUGuys
- “Coogler’s keen eye for social commentary and ability to craft a must-see theatrical experience allows Sinners to be far better than your average horror fare.” – Jonathan Sim of ComingSoon.net
- “Ryan Coogler enters the horror real and nails it in Sinners, which drops vampires into a deeply personal, heartfelt, emotional, sexy, and bloody story that’ll stick with you.” – Eric Goldman of IGN Movies
Over many years, I’ve been an enthusiast of horror films (and someone who’s developing a love for cinema in general). I’ve learned to view critics’ opinions with a large helping of skepticism, as what one person finds terrifying or enjoyable can greatly differ from another. It’s challenging to please everyone and create something that resonates universally. Critics’ reviews hold significant power; they can either boost or hamper a movie’s success before it even premieres in theaters.
It’s clear that the film Sinners has been captivating everyone who watches it, even going so far as to hold Omar Benson Miller’s attention for the entire movie after just a ten-minute preview. This demonstrates that Ryan Coogler has indeed found a golden opportunity in this project.
Beyond critical acclaim, Michael B. Jordan has lavished high praise on Hailee Steinfeld’s acting in the film; and since its trailer dropped, anticipation for the movie has been skyrocketing at an incredible rate. In fact, I seldom attend movies during their opening weekend (just because I don’t fancy crowded theaters), but I am ready to push my way through to secure a ticket for Sinners. And I’m not just using figurative language – I genuinely can’t wait until April 18th arrives.
