I Was Too Scared, But Maybe I Should Finally Check Out Alien: Isolation

On April 26th, enthusiasts of Ridley Scott’s Xenomorph series will celebrate “Alien Day”. If you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber and wish to immerse yourself in the Alien universe, you’ve got a fun weekend ahead as Alien: Isolation is available for free!

2014 saw the release of Alien: Isolation, a contemporary masterpiece that continues to garner acclaim. If you haven’t played it yet, perhaps this upcoming weekend offers an ideal opportunity for you to strap on your space boots and sneak around in the narrow corridors of a terrifying spaceship.

Alien: Isolation Free on Xbox Game Pass

According to the official announcement on the Alien: Isolation webpage, this game will be available free of charge for Xbox Game Pass members between April 24th and 26th. Here’s the post:

Although “Aliens” occurs years after the initial “Alien” events, “Isolation” delves into a narrative more closely resembling the original film. Set 15 years following Ripley’s encounter with the Xenomorph, “Isolation” focuses on the storyline of Ripley’s daughter, Amanda.

Here’s the official description:

Uncover the real essence of fear in the game ‘Alien: Isolation,’ a survival horror that immerses you in an environment shrouded by perpetual unease and imminent peril. In this continuation, fifteen years post the original story, Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen, embarks on a life-or-death struggle to unravel the mystery behind her mother’s vanishing.

Although Amanda has already perished prior to the occurrences depicted in Aliens, surprisingly, her tale is unfolded here, and regrettably, it bears striking similarities to the ordeal her mother endured when encountering a Xenomorph.

Critical Reception

Initially, some critics were quite critical about the game “Isolation” when it launched in 2014. However, as time has passed, the game has gained appreciation and is now widely regarded as one of the most authentic survival horror experiences within the Alien series.

As a devoted fan, I must say that the AI of this Alien was truly groundbreaking. Unlike traditional AIs, it didn’t stick to predictable patterns but rather adapted itself to the player’s skills. If you had a knack for hiding in lockers, it would be the first place this Xenomorph would check. And if you preferred to hide under tables, trust me, it wouldn’t take long before it started scouring those areas too.

Alien: Resurgence

As an ardent Alien enthusiast, I must say it’s a thrilling era to be part of this sci-fi universe! The triumphant release of Alien: Romulus only strengthens this sentiment. What’s more, the tantalizing trailer for Predator: Badlands has ushered in an exciting development – Elle Fanning’s character being a Weyland-Yutani android, hinting at a shared universe between these two cinematic gems!

Regarding Isolation, it’s consistently praised as a milestone in survival horror games, yet I’ve held back from exploring it despite numerous suggestions. Frankly, the thought of playing it alone made me uneasy, so I needed a companion to experience Dead Space with, ensuring I could get some rest afterwards.

Since today is Alien Day and there’s so much excitement about the upcoming Predator ventures, how about we make this weekend a thrilling experience by turning off the lights, darting through hallways, and playing hide-and-seek from one of pop culture’s most notorious creatures?

Alien: Isolation is available for free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers from April 24-26.
