Ibrahim Ali Khan realized his dad Saif Ali Khan was ‘big actor’ when he worked with Deepika Padukone in Love Aaj Kal: ‘I was obsessed…’

2025 marked a significant milestone for Saif Ali Khan’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, as he embarked on his acting career. Recently, Ibrahim reminisced about the moment he truly understood the magnitude of his father’s acting prowess – that was when he collaborated with Deepika Padukone in Love Aaj Kal. Additionally, Ibrahim openly expressed his longstanding admiration for Deepika and confessed to being ‘infatuated’ with her during his childhood.

During a chat with Filmfare, Ibrahim Ali Khan was questioned about any shifts in his life once he understood that his parents, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, were renowned figures. In his answer, he admitted being unaware since he was quite young when he grasped this fact.

Ibrahim recollected being around seven or eight years old during Saif’s movie shoot with Imtiaz Ali titled Love Aaj Kal, which took place in the U.K. He commended the film and openly declared his affection for Deepika Padukone, who starred alongside his father in the production. Interestingly, he admitted that she was his very first crush.

The Nadaaniyan actor expressed, “I was quite small and deeply infatuated with her. I felt like I simply had to catch a glimpse of Deepika.” Ibrahim commented, “And it was at that moment I understood my father is a prominent actor. Deepika Padukone was working on a film with him.

Ibrahim Ali Khan made his Bollywood debut with the Netflix release “Nadaaniyan,” which premiered on March 7, 2025. In this romantic comedy, he starred as Arjun, a student, alongside Khushi Kapoor who played Pia. The film was directed by Shauna Gautam and produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra.

Before the movie’s premiere, Karan Johar wrote a touching tribute for Ibrahim’s acting debut, highlighting his long-standing relationship with the family. He expressed, “I’ve known this family for forty years. We’ve collaborated in various roles – from Duniya and 2 States with Amrita, to Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kurbaan with Saif, and Simmba with Sara, and many more projects in the future.” He added, “I know them for their compassionate hearts.

Looking ahead, Ibrahim Ali Khan has the movies Sarzameen and Diler in his lineup.
