Ibrahim Ali Khan’s film Diler’s makers cancel London schedule due to UK unrest; shooting to shift to India: Reports

As a seasoned film enthusiast who has witnessed numerous twists and turns in the industry, I must admit that the recent developments surrounding Ibrahim Ali Khan’s upcoming projects have caught my attention. The decision to relocate the shoot of Diler from London to Mumbai due to escalating unrest and anti-immigration protests is indeed a testament to the producer’s commitment to the safety of his team.

Ibrahim Ali Khan’s forthcoming sports drama titled “Diler” has faced a production hurdle. Originally, a large part of the film was intended to be shot in the UK. Unfortunately, due to escalating tensions and anti-immigration demonstrations in that area, producer Dinesh Vijan chose to abandon the London shoot entirely. As a result, the movie will now be filmed in Mumbai instead.

According to a report from Mid-day, the filmmaking crew had previously scouted locations and carried out preliminary tests in London during late July. They had planned an extensive schedule for filming. But due to the deteriorating circumstances in the UK, the creators have chosen to prioritize the safety of their actors and technicians over the production.

The source mentioned, “At the end of July, our team conducted reconnaissance and test shoots in London. Kunal had planned a continuous shooting schedule during which crucial scenes for the movie were to be filmed. However, as the situation deteriorated, the producers believed it would be financially burdensome to secure extensive protection for such an extensive setup.”

Dinesh Vijan, putting his team’s safety first, chose to overhaul the original shooting scheme. The crew is now actively looking for suitable locations within India as a priority. It was reported that Vijan values the well-being of his team highly, causing him to scrap the London shoot and direct his team to investigate domestic options instead. Mumbai appears to be the main area under consideration for location scouting, with filming expected to commence in the first week of September.

The sudden shift in plans could pose a challenge for the film, but it emphasizes the producer’s commitment to the well-being of his crew. Notably, Diler is the central character, portrayed around the life of a marathon runner. Besides Diler, Ali Khan will make his first cinematic appearance in Sarzameen, sharing the screen with Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

The movie Sarzameen is being helmed by Kayoze Irani, who happens to be the son of renowned actor Boman Irani. Previously, Kayoze had acted in Karan Johar’s 2012 campus drama Student of the Year and made his directorial debut with a short film featuring Manav Kaul and Shefali Shah in the 2021 Netflix India anthology Ajeeb Daastaans. Sarzameen marks Kayoze’s first full-length directorial venture. Additionally, it is reported that he will also be working on a movie titled Nadaaniyaan along with Khushi Kapoor.
