Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Nadaaniyan wasn’t a ‘good film’ admits grandmother Sharmila Tagore: ‘He has tried his best’

Saif Ali Khan’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, recently stepped into acting with the release of Nadaaniyan last month, a romantic comedy co-starring Khushi Kapoor. However, the movie received heavy criticism online for subpar performances by its principal cast. Notably, after Soha Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore – a renowned actress – openly acknowledged that the film was not up to par. Despite this, Ibrahim Ali Khan gave his best in the production.

In a conversation with Anandabazar Patrika.com via YouTube, Sharmila Tagore discussed her grandchildren, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, who are continuing the family’s tradition and building careers in the entertainment industry.

She expressed that Sara and Ibrahim are doing an exceptional job. Ibrahim’s film might not have been impressive, but he certainly carries a captivating presence. He has given his all. To be frank, the quality of the film isn’t top-notch, yet it should ideally be discussed in private conversations. In essence, the end product needs to shine brighter.

Tagore commended Sara Ali Khan for her commitment and promise, stating that she is an exceptional actress. He expressed his belief that the actress from ‘Metro…In Dino’ puts in a great deal of effort and has the ability to accomplish even more. He confidently asserted that she will indeed reach such heights.

In another interview, Soha Ali Khan, Ibrahim’s aunt, spoke about the online criticism he faced for his first movie. She emphasized that having a ‘tough hide’ is crucial when you’re involved in the entertainment world.

As suggested by Soha, individuals displaying their work on social media platforms should consider other people’s feedback, although it’s also an option for them to choose not to read the comments.

Additionally, she pointed out that it’s important to occasionally glance through comments to stay open to constructive critique and improve one’s skills. The actress revealed that actors can be vulnerable to harsh criticism since some individuals find satisfaction in seeing others stumble.

Under the direction of Shauna Gautam, the film Nadaaniyan showcased primary performances by Ibrahim Ali Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, Dia Mirza, Mahima Chaudhary, and Jugal Hansraj. This production made its debut on the streaming platform Netflix.

Following almost two decades, Rabindranath Tagore re-entered Bengali cinema through the film “Puratwan,” directed by Suman Ghosh. The main male role is played by Indraneil Sengupta.
