As a long-time fan of both Mamma Mia and Amanda Seyfried, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of Sabrina Carpenter joining the cast for Mamma Mia 3! The idea of seeing Amanda play my onscreen mother while her daughter is played by the talented Sabrina Carpenter seems like a dream come true.
Amanda Seyfried wholeheartedly endorses fans’ ideas of having Sabrina Carpenter portray her on-screen daughter in the upcoming film, Mamma Mia 3.
The award-winning actress recently chatted with Will Ganss from ABC News and was queried about potential plans for a third installment of the movie series. Although many are speculating that it will come to fruition, she admitted that she has not received a draft of the script as of now.
Next, the journalist mentioned that Carpenter has been performing “Mamma Mia” at various venues on her Short ‘N Sweet tour, such as Madison Square Garden recently, and included it as an unexpected segment in her concert program.
Since age isn’t significantly important in the Mamma Mia Cinematic Universe (MMCU), there’s been talk about whether Sabrina could potentially play Sophie’s daughter. When asked about this, Ganss said this to Seyfried, who responded with some hesitation, ‘Well, she technically could.’
When it was mentioned that Cher’s character and Meryl Streep’s portrayed a mother-daughter relationship in the film “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again“, even though they were just three years apart in age, this fact convinced Amanda Seyfried.
Indeed, it seems unimportant in this case,” the actor from The Dropout replied. “You know what? I’d rather embrace aging gracefully. That’s my choice. … I’m an actor, and if Sabrina Carpenter wishes to portray my daughter, I’ll make it work. It’s all good. She’s… I’ve always been a fan.

Though Seyfried is yet to review the script, Christine Baranski, on the other hand, holds a notion regarding its subject matter.
Previously, The Gilded Age actor shared with The Hollywood Reporter that they were in London with producer Judy Craymer at their preferred pub, where she discussed plans for Mamma Mia 3. She revealed the basic outline of how the story will unfold, but that’s all I can disclose! It’s not a matter of wishing it would happen; Judy Craymer has the power to make things happen. She managed to bring about Mamma Mia 2, which was a massive success. I wouldn’t be surprised if she could gather everyone together again for Mamma Mia 3.
In the movie “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again,” it was disclosed – beware, spoilers ahead! – that the character Donna, portrayed by Meryl Streep, had passed away. However, this doesn’t necessarily rule out the possibility of her reappearing in Greece, Croatia, or wherever the potential third installment might take place. The actress from “Only Murders in the Building” told Vogue that she would indeed be open to returning as a reborn Donna.
Speaking of Carpenter, she recently kick-started her Short ‘N Sweet tour, coinciding with her second album of the same title. Additionally, she’s made it onto Time 100 Next’s list for 2024.
In a feature article for Time, the vocalist behind “Taste” candidly discussed how she’s long aspired to reach the level of success she’s experienced this year, with not just one but two hits, “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” that have become summer anthems.
She too openly discussed the fact that expressing her sexuality through her work brought some of the same backlash Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, and Madonna experienced during their peak popularity. Yet, they have all played a role in advancing these issues, albeit not as far as one might hope.
As a fan, I’d share this in my own words: “Every now and then, there will be a mom who offers her unsolicited fashion advice. My response? Simply, if you’re not comfortable with my style at the concert, just stay home – and that’s perfectly fine.
She added, “It’s unfortunate that this aspect has been subject to criticism, but honestly, the most terrifying thing in the world is standing on a stage in front of so many people and having to perform as if it’s routine. If the one thing that helps you pull off that feat is how you choose to dress, then that’s what you need to do.
