As a gamer with a soft spot for nostalgia and a heart that skips a beat at the sight of flashing neon lights, I must confess my admiration for Universal Orlando Resort’s Tribute Store has reached new heights this year. Despite my fearful disposition towards jump scares, the allure of this thematic wonderland is too strong to resist.
I love Universal Orlando Resort. Universal’s best attractions are some of the best theme park experiences you’ll find anywhere, and it has the best theme park restaurant I’ve ever been to. While it often gets overshadowed by that other Orlando theme park resort, there are things I think Universal Orlando does better than Disney World. It is just about all you could want, but I have a confession to make: I’ve never actually been to Halloween Horror Nights.
For me, the busiest time at Universal Studios Florida is usually when I prefer to steer clear. You see, I’m not a fan of jump scares as they tend to frighten me quite easily. Being startled isn’t really my thing, so Halloween Horror Nights hasn’t been high on my list. However, this year I find myself wishing I had gone despite my apprehensions. This year’s event boasts some exclusive experiences, such as a house inspired by A Quiet Place, which promises a unique fan experience. But what catches my attention is the HHN Tribute Store, as it appears to be quite spectacular.
Friends from ThrillGeek have shared stunning images of the revamped HHN Tribute Store. This store, which transforms multiple times a year to align with Universal Orlando Resort’s current celebrations, offers more than just unique merchandise – it’s a destination that boasts a captivating narrative and theme reminiscent of most attractions. Despite being a retail space, the Tribute Store stands out for its immersive storytelling experience. The 2021 version looks particularly impressive.
Regardless of your budget constraints, it’s definitely worth a glance as you stroll by the Tribute Store at Universal Orlando Resort during Halloween Horror Nights, to appreciate the intricate work put into its creation by their dedicated team.
This Summer Tribute Store boasts an ’80s motif, featuring timeless Universal films such as E.T., Jaws, and Ghostbusters. It perfectly accentuated the freshly unveiled Cinesational Symphonic Spectacular in June, a nighttime show that paid tribute to the music from these movies and more.
The Tribute Store is modeled after a vintage video rental shop and an arcade in two separate areas, which appealed to me greatly given my extensive experiences with both during the 1980s. However, I was slightly let down that the games weren’t functional. Despite HHN not being my usual notion of amusement, this store still exudes a cool vibe.
Although I won’t personally attend Halloween Horror Nights this year, rest assured that TopMob will still be represented. We have a team ready to explore HHN in both Florida and Hollywood throughout the upcoming week. This way, we can share all the fantastic happenings from both events with you. It’s simply being handled by individuals who are more accustomed to jump scares than I am.
