I'm Finally Caught Up On Emily In Paris Season 4, And I Have A Huge Problem With The Gabriel Love Triangle

Well, I reckon I’ve got to share my two cents about the latest season of Emily in Paris, seeing as how I’m an old hand at watching TV shows and all that jazz. Now, don’t get me wrong – I’ve been a loyal fan since the very first season, and I ain’t ashamed to admit it. But this here love triangle business…well, it’s got my goat something fierce!

Alright…I need to rant.

Since the first season, I’ve been a dedicated fan of the show “Emily in Paris“. Excitedly, I looked forward to the fourth season which was scheduled for release in 2024 as part of the TV premiere lineup. Despite many people criticizing this series, it serves as one of my comforting television choices amidst my regular viewing of more serious and dark shows. So yes, I delight in my escapist fantasy of an American in Paris.

In the fourth season of Emily in Paris, as expected, there was the usual dose of drama from the cast. However, what pushed me over the edge was the ongoing Gabriel-Emily-whoever love triangle. Frankly, I have a significant issue with this triangular relationship. To celebrate the show’s renewal for a fifth season, let’s discuss why it’s time to put an end to this love triangle.

We Waited THREE Seasons For Them To Get Together, All For It To Fall Apart In, Like, Three Episodes

Emily and Gabriel have been circling each other romantically for quite some time now, dating back to the initial episode of “Emily in Paris.” Despite spending nights together on several occasions, they never formally acknowledged their relationship. Yet, in Season 4 of “Emily in Paris,” they finally decide to become a couple. In an interview with TopMob, Lily Collins mentioned that Emily feels drawn to Gabriel because he was among the first individuals who showed kindness towards her during her time in Paris.

But this relationship lasted all of four episodes.

We endured nearly four seasons watching them as single individuals before they eventually started dating, only for them to break up shortly after our reunion. Honestly, it’s frustrating.

Why this sudden turn of events? I could’ve handled their separation if it had happened towards the end of the series, but instead, just a handful of episodes in? It lacked the thrill, the tension…it all seemed like a dramatic climax, and yet, nothing followed.

I Understand Gabriel’s POV With Camille – But What He Did On The Ski Mountain Is Still Awful

In Season 4 Part 1, the major turn of events involving Camille was quite significant, as I expected it would influence Part 2 substantially. However, what’s infuriatingly frustrating is that Emily and Gabriel initially split up because Camille continued to deceive them about being pregnant, even after learning she wasn’t.

It seems clear that Gabriel made the decision to abandon Emily on a French mountain peak, expecting her to descend alone since he suspected she might be carrying his child and was pursuing another woman who was an experienced skier. While I can comprehend his reasoning, I’m still left questioning the situation. Frankly, I don’t believe it’s right for anyone to leave their partner stranded on a chilly mountain without knowing how to navigate down safely.

I don’t know; maybe I’m being dramatic, but I was on Emily’s side for this one.

Plus, Marcello Is Absolutely Perfect For Emily

Without a doubt, my recent two-week trip to Italy has left me with a strong impression that Italian men possess a unique blend of kindness and passion. It seems they deeply value not only their own lives but also those around them. If I were in a relationship with one, I’d be confident of it.

I firmly think Marcello is an ideal fit for Emily when he’s introduced in Part 2. He’s affectionate, thoughtful, and good-looking, providing her with the opportunity to explore a different part of Europe, which could potentially offer her a fresh start. Additionally, his career in fashion aligns perfectly with her profession in a marketing firm that focuses on luxury goods, often incorporating fashion.

I find Marcello incredibly endearing. To be honest, I haven’t connected this strongly with a character from “Emily in Paris” since I began to feel that Sylvie is the true standout performer. Yet, I can’t help but yearn for more of his storyline.

I Really Hope Emily AND Gabriel Find People Better Suited For Them In Season 5

At the end of Season 4 for the show titled “Emily in Paris”, it’s revealed that Emily has taken on a temporary job assignment in Rome on behalf of her company and seems content with dating Marcello. On the other hand, Gabriel is seen inquiring about Emily’s whereabouts from Mindy, suggesting that he intends to pursue her in Rome.

Stop, please.

Honestly, I’m feeling drained. The constant back-and-forth between these two characters every season is really getting to me. It’s not just them; it’s the endless “will they, won’t they” drama that leaves me exhausted. You might think, “There are plenty of shows with similar romantic tension! What’s your problem?” Well, for me, it’s the predictable nature and repetition that’s losing its charm. I crave more freshness and unpredictability in my favorite series.

In the cast of “Friends,” we had Rachel and Ross, yet entire seasons would pass where they dated others. Similarly, Piper and Alex from “Orange is the New Black” spent full seasons apart, showing no interest in each other. It seems that such complex relationships can function, but these love triangles are becoming too frequent for my liking.

Personally, I’m rooting for Gabriel and Emily to find happiness – just not with each other this season. I want Emily to be content with Marcello, and honestly, it would be nice to see Gabriel pursue someone new besides Emily and Camille. If fate has plans for them in the future, great; they can reunite then. But for now, let these characters have some space to grow and explore their own relationships.

I do still think Emily in Paris is one of the best shows to binge-watch on Netflix because it’s so fun and a series where you don’t really have to think so much, but there needs to be some changes. And here’s hoping that with Season 5 of the show, the love triangle will stop, at least for a bit.
