On Hulu, the captivating thriller “The Bad Shepherd” is creating quite a stir, climbing high on the streaming charts. This independent film didn’t win over many viewers last year, with a 39% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Yet, despite its mixed reviews, it has managed to pique subscribers’ interest. The plot presents an intriguing question that has crossed our minds at some point – “What would you and your friends do if you stumbled upon a bag of money?
Currently sitting at number two on Hulu’s popular movies list (as reported by Flix Patrol), “The Unscrupulous Shepherd” tells the story of a group of companions embarking on a hunting expedition who inadvertently strike and kill an armed woman carrying a sack filled with cash. As the trailer hints, they contemplate keeping the money and disposing of the body, but their actions lead them into peril in the frigid wilderness. This low-budget independent film may not feature well-known actors, but its compelling plot has managed to draw viewers on Hulu over the past week. While streaming services have posed a threat to traditional cinema, they’ve also provided an opportunity for lesser-known productions like “The Unscrupulous Shepherd” to flourish in the digital space.
Deep within untouched wilderness, a band of companions sets out on an adventure that would prove to be momentous, as their hunt inadvertently leads to the tragic demise of a puzzling wanderer burdened with a satchel full of illegal funds.
Hulu Is Bringing the Heat Next Month
In February, Hulu is set to boost its extensive collection of content by adding several new titles. While Hulu is famous for hosting great TV series, it’s also bringing some recently released movies this February that could dethrone “The Bad Shepard” as the streaming service’s top choice. The underrated monster horror film from 2024 starring Nicolas Cage, titled Arcadian, will join Hulu next month, along with a reboot of the classic Universal Monsters movie, “The Mummy” (2017) featuring Tom Cruise. In the action genre, fans of Liam Neeson can look forward to watching his debut in “Taken” and its controversial sequel, “Taken 3,” starting February 1 on Hulu.
Besides its popular shows, Hulu is unveiling numerous original productions, with Steven Knight’s period series, “A Thousand Blows,” being one of the most anticipated. This series delves into the underground bare-knuckle boxing scene in 1880s London, reminiscent of Knight’s critically acclaimed drama, “Peaky Blinders.” Additionally, the fourth season of “Shoresy” is on its way, a spinoff from the hit comedy series “Letterkenny.” If you didn’t find “The Bad Shepherd” appealing, Hulu has plenty more upcoming titles to captivate your interest.
