This incredible film, which broke box office records faster than any other animated movie, is set for a digital release on August 20. As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about “Inside Out 2”. It didn’t take long for this film’s heartwarming family-oriented narrative to captivate audiences craving a compelling reason to head back to the cinemas this summer. For those of you who haven’t experienced this animated adventure yet, I strongly recommend checking out its official synopsis below to learn more:

“Inside Out 2 finds Disney and Pixar revisiting the mind of teen Riley, as headquarters undergoes an unexpected transformation – a renovation to accommodate completely new emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, who’ve been managing things quite well until now, are taken aback when Anxiety appears. It seems she’s not the only one joining the team.”

Just as I had anticipated based on the projections from the upcoming “Inside Out 2,” Pixar’s latest animated masterpiece has undeniably taken center stage, ruling not only the summer movie scene but the entire year of 2024. As we speak, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is inching closer to a staggering $900-million global gross, while “Inside Out 2” has already surpassed that mark and is now sitting pretty at over $1.5 billion worldwide (according to Box Office Mojo). But here’s the cherry on top for us fans: when the film finally hits home video, we can look forward to a treasure trove of bonus features that were previously hidden from cinema-goers’ eyes.

“Opening the Vault” is presented as a “sort of visual commentary,” providing die-hard fans of Pixar’s “Inside Out” an exclusive behind-the-scenes peek into the development and inspirations behind the vault scene. Another exciting addition, called “New Emotions,” is a new documentary that will explore the characters in Riley’s mind from the sequel, including Anxiety, Embarrassment, Boredom, and of course, Envy. Furthermore, an alternate opening for “Inside Out 2” is unveiled among the five deleted scenes, as detailed below, directly from the official press release:

Inside Out 2 Special Features (Deleted Scenes)

  • Cold Open – In this alternate opening, a now 13-year-old Riley awkwardly fumbles her way through an original song she wrote for a school audition.
  • Broken Joy – After momentarily being unable to drive the console, Joy worries that she might be starting to malfunction.
  • Pool Party – After Riley tries too hard to be fun at an older teen’s party – resulting in utter embarrassment – her “Anxiety” becomes “Self-Loathing” who then ousts our hero emotions from headquarters.
  • Puberty Park – After seeing their faces printed on “wanted posters,” Joy and the others rogue emotions race through a puberty-themed amusement park while being chased by mind worker cops.
  • Shame Spiral – At a lock-in with some cool, older girls, Riley and friends play a game of “Never Have I Ever” that goes a bit too far – wreaking havoc in Riley’s mind.

As a long-time Pixar enthusiast and someone who grew up watching their movies, I must say that Inside Out 2 has been one of the most enjoyable films I’ve seen this summer. Not only does it boast impressive box office numbers, but it also garnered high praise from both fans and critics alike. With a Tomatometer score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience score of 95%, the movie has proven to be a hit among audiences. To top it off, Inside Out 2’s nearly perfect “A” CinemaScore shows just how much people enjoyed the film as a theatergoing experience. As someone who has always admired Pixar for their ability to create emotional and thought-provoking stories, I was not disappointed with this sequel. It’s clear that Kelsey Mann, the director, did an outstanding job in delivering a movie that resonates with viewers of all ages.

Moreover, Greta Gerwig’s hit movie Barbie (earning $1.44 billion globally last summer) was outshone by Inside Out 2 this summer, becoming a must-watch. However, Deadpool and Wolverine are expected to have their say in deciding which film will emerge as the top earner of 2024.

As a die-hard fan of Pixar movies, I can hardly contain my excitement! “Inside Out 2” is finally releasing on various platforms starting Tuesday, August 20th. You can catch it on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. For those who prefer physical copies, wait till September 10th when it becomes available in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats. Pre-orders are already live on Disney’s official website! Let the countdown begin!
