In Hollywood, a party is rarely just a party.
Instead of hosting a launch event, project celebration, or recognition party for a notable figure, Ashlee Margolis and her team at The A List opted to hold an appreciation gathering on Friday instead. This special occasion was extended to a group of Hollywood assistants, who are usually linked with grueling tasks rather than gratitude, but were honored as the recipients of this kind gesture.
Margolis explained to The Hollywood Reporter that the annual young Hollywood mixer, held at her Beverly Hills headquarters on Civic Center Drive, is a chance to express gratitude to the assistants who work tirelessly throughout the year. She noted the event’s electric atmosphere, as many of these young professionals are enjoying their first Summer Fridays and taking a break from work. The weather is beautiful, everyone is having a great time, mingling, and even meeting each other for the first time after months or years of communication via calls and emails.
450 talent assistants from leading entertainment companies around town, such as CAA, UTA, WME, Untitled Entertainment, Gersh, Entertainment 360, IDPR, 42 West, Lede Company, Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis, Range Media Partners, Mosaic, and many others, were invited by The A List, a company specializing in celebrity influence, marketing, events, and special projects. Hundreds attended to enjoy refreshments, mingle, exchange business cards, and tour The A List’s showroom.
The other party featured beauty services provided by Glamsquad such as hair and makeup touch-ups, along with a raffle offering prizes from sponsors like LOFT, Fly by Jing, Grove Collaborative, and Glamsquad themselves. Sweetfin served poke bowls, while Uber provided ride shares. Beverages were sponsored by Aspen Vodka, Flecha Tequila, Unusual Wines. Attendees received gift bags containing items from Fly by Jing, Clarins, Bloom Nutrition, Magic Mind, FORM, Dirty Cookie, Glamnetic and free classes from Barry’s. Additional sponsors included RepBets, Bloom Nutrition, Magic Mind, Saint James Iced Tea, Dirty Cookie, Prince St. Pizza, and VOSS.
When it comes to hosting a successful gathering for assistants, Margolis emphasized the importance of name tags. She explained that these labels help attendees recognize and differentiate one another, as well as learn where they work. By facilitating connections through name tags, it’s easier to build relationships since many individuals at this event are likely to have careers in the entertainment industry for a long time. As such, they will be acquainted with each other for years to come after meeting today.
