As an old-school gamer with a lifetime of scrolling through social media feeds, I must say that Instagram’s new profile cards are a game-changer! It feels like the digital equivalent of trading virtual trading cards back in the day. The ability to customize my card and share it across platforms is a feature that truly levels up my online presence.
Instagram simplifies the process of sharing user profiles by introducing profile cards, acting as a digital equivalent of a traditional business card for an account’s username.
Each card displays the user’s username, profile picture, personal description (bio), and an optional musical selection. On one side, there is a QR code on a customizable background. Other Instagram users can scan this code, which will direct them straight to the user’s profile.
Users have the option to personalize the details of their cards by navigating to their profile and selecting the “Show Profile” label. Additionally, a video demonstration of the card is available for download, allowing users to advertise their Instagram account across various social media networks.
For more than five years, Instagram has provided QR codes for sharing user profiles. However, the latest update adds additional information and context when someone is added through these codes.
