Actress Kajol tied the knot with actor Ajay Devgn in a Maharashtrian wedding ceremony on February 24, 1999. Together they have two children: Nysa, their daughter born in 2003, and Yug, their son who joined the family in 2010. In an exclusive interview with TopMob, Kajol discussed her experiences as a parent and how her kids respond when she returns home.
In an interview with TopMob, Kajol was queried about whether her children Nysa and Yug have a closer bond with her or their father Ajay Devgn. Responding to this, she disclosed, “They are indeed my children, without a doubt. Ajay Devgn is not absent from the picture. Let me tell you. So they are both, truthfully, they are my kids, they are his kids, they are our kids. And I am extremely happy to declare that they are very much their own individuals.
The actress from Maa casually reminisced about a playful incident with her son Yug and shared, “I distinctly remember asking Yug, ‘Quickly now, who would you rather resemble? Would you prefer to look like me or your father? Make a quick decision.’
The smallest one provided the most endearing response to the actress. Kajol commented, “He seemed to regard me as if I had a gun pointed at his head. But he did so calmly and diplomatically, then casually turned around and said, ‘I resemble Yug. I am Yug’. So, I believe that sums up my kids.
I take great pride in sharing this: I’ve nurtured two unique individuals, each with their distinct identities. My hope is that I’ve instilled within them the ability to think critically, a skill I believe has been my most significant contribution as a parent.
Kajol shared a glimpse of her life at home, saying, “When I come back home, my kids are like, ‘Mommy!’ and then the complaints begin: ‘Why didn’t you do this? Why didn’t you do that?’ But as soon as I see them, all roles disappear and I am only their mother.
The actress reminisced about the instance when she became a mother for the first time and commented, “When Nysa was born, it felt like an exam I couldn’t flunk. In other words, being a mom has drained me more than any role I’ve ever played in films.
