Introducing the Air Jordan 39

As a hardcore sneakerhead and avid Jordan Brand fan, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement every time July rolls around. This month has become synonymous with new Air Jordans, and this year is no exception. The recent announcement of the Air Jordan 39 has me buzzing with anticipation.

As a dedicated gamer of Jordan Brand sneakers, I eagerly anticipate July every year. This month is always filled with excitement as the Jumpman team unveils its latest addition to the iconic Air Jordan series. Last year, we were blown away by the reveal of the Air Jordan 38. Now, we’re fortunate enough to get a first look at the much-awaited Air Jordan 39. I’ve already caught glimpses of its initial “Sol” colorway and a special Chris Paul PE. And just recently, we’ve been given a sneak peek into nine upcoming in-line releases that are set to drop soon.

Michael Jordan’s agile cross-step inspired Nike to create the Air Jordan 39 with a focus on enhancing the wearer’s quickness. This innovative basketball shoe marks the debut of full-length ZoomX foam and Air Zoom, providing exceptional comfort and bounce. The upper showcases an intricately embroidered textile, featuring a complex design derived from Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) testing. Meanwhile, the outsole boasts a clear herringbone traction pattern based on NSRL findings and fortified at crucial pivot points.

A design true to performance, it may not grab attention as much as its past counterparts. According to senior design director Joël Greenspan, our priorities for the Air Jordan 39 centered around shape, proportion, and posture. We avoided creating a visually striking spaceship-like appearance. Although most of the unveiled colorways align with this understated aesthetic, some, such as the all-red version, will undoubtedly make a bold statement.

On July 23, the new Air Jordan 39 will be released in its “Sol” color scheme through Nike SNKRS and selected retailers. The price starts at $200 USD. Look out for more information as we get closer to the unveiling of the other eight versions in the following months.
