Invincible Season 4 Already in the Works, According to J.K. Simmons!

Just three episodes of Invincible Season 3 have been out on Prime Video, yet some enthusiasts are already speculating about Season 4. Fortunately for them, the character Omni-Man himself, portrayed by J.K. Simmons, has offered a reassuring update about the upcoming season. Invincible Thursdays have come back with a bang as Mark Grayson juggles his full-time superhero duties with looking after his young half-brother Oliver and starting a new romance with Atom Eve (at last!). The initial three episodes mark a strong comeback for the series that lost many viewers during Season 2’s extended mid-season hiatus. But Invincible is back, and according to J.K. Simmons, it’s here for the long haul.

In an interview with Collider, Simmons playfully hinted that while they’re technically on Season 12, he has actually started working on lines for Season 4 of Invincible. However, he admitted this is a spoiler and apologized for the revelation.

Absolutely, I’ve already taken a little peek into the upcoming season, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into it, though I’m not sure about the exact timeline, hopefully within the next few months, I’ll be back in the studio once more.

In the opening episodes of Season 3, attention shifted from Omni-Man to Mark Grayson and his ethical dilemmas. As Mark grappled with Cecil’s deceitfulness and Oliver’s justification for killing foes, Omni-Man found himself locked up in a Viltrumite jail. But future episodes promise a thrilling prison break involving Omni-Man, who has formed an alliance with the stronger Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen), who survived a near-death encounter with Viltrumite soldiers in Season 2.

‘Invincible’ Could Last for 8 Seasons… Or More

So far in the series Invincible, we’ve only completed two and a half seasons, yet an incredible amount of events have unfolded. Omni-Man, after destroying the initial Guardians of the Globe and almost taking over Earth, experienced a moral dilemma and departed from our planet. Simultaneously, a new team of Guardians faced various challenges on Earth and in space, ultimately getting annihilated by the Serpent Society. In addition, Mark Grayson discovered that Omni-Man was less powerful among the Viltrumite soldiers when he was brutally defeated by an enigmatic messenger. It’s remarkable how much plot a show can pack even over its entire run in just these few seasons. But don’t think that creator Robert Kirkman is nearing the end – quite the contrary! He’s barely scratched the surface of adapting the comic books.

According to Kirkman, the proposed plan for Invincible is to loosely follow the comic’s structure, dividing it into approximately eight seasons. However, he cautioned that this number could range from seven to ten seasons, depending on Amazon Prime Video’s decision to continue the show for such an extended run. Given its exceptional ratings and reviews, there’s a high likelihood that Invincible will indeed be given more seasons. Currently, Invincible Season 3 has a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it was the most-watched series on Amazon Prime when it debuted last week.
