2025 saw Invincible, the top-tier adult animated series on TV, continuing its reign with its third season premiere on February 6. Among the changes, a time leap of an entire year took place between seasons, making my character, Mark Grayson (aka Invincible, portrayed by Steven Yeun), turn 19 years old. This transition marked not just another step in my superhero journey, but also a significant shift as I traded adolescence for adulthood. To mark this change, I was given a sleek new blue superhero suit to match my growing responsibilities.

Despite the fact that Amazon’s Prime Video has already renewed the show “Invincible” for a fourth season, it’s only a matter of time before the wealth of Robert Kirkman’s source material and numerous comic sequels and spin-offs are adapted to television. Given the events in “Invincible” up until now, the most logical next step seems to be “Guarding the Globe,” a spin-off that has already been hinted at in the main series. Could Amazon be planning an official “Invincible” spin-off? If not, here’s why they should.

‘Invincible’s Is One of Prime Video’s Biggest Hits

The series “Invincible”, an adult-animated superhero production penned by Robert Kirkman, is rooted in his comic book series. The narrative revolves around Mark Grayson, a typical American teenager whose world undergoes a significant shift on his 17th birthday. As he turns 17, Mark acquires extraordinary abilities from his father, endowing him with superhuman strength, speed, durability, stamina, flight, and an intense temper. Baffled, Mark grapples with integrating his newfound powers into his everyday teenage existence.

Mark is the son of Nolan Grayson, a figure once revered as Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on Earth, who has now fallen into public disgrace. Born on the alien planet Viltrum, Omni-Man belongs to a race that seeks dominion over the universe. Given his mixed human and Viltrumite heritage, Mark must learn to master the virtuous aspects of his genetic makeup while resisting any dark tendencies, all in an effort to shield Earth from the impending threat of the Viltrumite Empire.

The gruesome killing of The Guardians of the Globe by Omni-Man has become a central issue, causing Invincible to grapple with a significant moral dilemma due to his loyalty towards both parties. As this conflict intensifies in each new season, it becomes increasingly apparent and essential that a TV series centered around Guarding the Globe is needed.

The ‘Guarding the Globe Comic’

Originating from the spin-off of “Invincible,” titled “Guarding the Globe,” this 12-issue comic book series was published between August 2010 and February 2013. Robert Kirkman is the creator behind this comic, featuring Brit, a secondary character set to be voiced by Doug Bradley. Brit’s introduction will occur in Season 3 of “Invincible.” The narrative centers around Brit’s efforts to establish a new team, with the storyline splitting into two parts. In Part 1, “Under Siege,” Brit persistently gathers a new Guardians of the Globe team following Mark’s departure to participate in The Viltrumite War. A group of fresh-faced superheroes is assembled to confront The Order, an unknown villainous clan posing a threat to Earth’s inhabitants.

In Part 2 of “Hard to Kill,” titled so due to Brit’s relentless efforts, he sends the fresh members of Guardians of the Globe on missions worldwide to combat crime, while he tackles crises at home. Simultaneously, a vindictive Mauler twin resurfaces after his brother’s demise, swearing to replicate and disseminate his genetic code across the planet. Additionally, Oliver Grayson, Mark’s younger sibling, carries both kind-hearted Thraxan and malicious Viltrumite DNA inside him. As Oliver concludes his storyline in Invincible, the groundwork is carefully set for an effortless transition to a Guarding the Globe spin-off on TV, given the compelling narrative connections.

Why ‘Guarding the Globe’ Is a No-Brainer Spin-off

To date, devoted fans of Invincible TV series have had minimal insights into the character Brit. Although it’s anticipated that Brit might assume a more significant part in Season 3, one comedic plotline initially intended for Brit was handed over to Donald Ferguson (Chris Diamantopoulos) during Invincible Season 2. This story arc revolved around Donald discovering he was covertly an android.

As a devoted fan myself, I can understand why some of us were disappointed when Brit wasn’t included in Invincible initially, fearing legal complications might prevent other spin-off and crossover characters from showing up. However, if Brit does join the cast for Season 3, it could certainly ease those worries.

Now, concerning Doug Bradley voicing Brit for a brief appearance, I find that idea rather puzzling. Instead, creating a spin-off series centered around Bradley’s character in a Guarding the Globe spin-off seems like a much more logical move to me.

A key factor in selecting Guarding the Globe next is the dynamic relationship between characters Brit, Mark, Oliver, Nolan, and Cecil Stedman (portrayed by Walton Goggins). With The Order and the remaining Mauler causing chaos on Earth, furthering the expansion of The Viltrumite Empire, it becomes crucial for Mark and Brit to unite their efforts and rebuild the Guardians’ tarnished reputation.

Given that the tale of Guarding the Globe has been structured, planned, and shared, it’s entirely logical for Amazon Prime Video to create an adult-animated spin-off series based on Invincible. This spin-off would naturally pick up where Mark left off in his quest for revenge after his father’s tragic mistake, introduce a fresh team of Guardians to further their objectives, and primarily focus the narrative on Brit.
