As a fan who’s been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its inception, I can confidently say that Jeff Bridges’ portrayal of Obadiah Stane in Iron Man was nothing short of brilliant. It’s been over 15 years since we last saw him, and while it’s unclear if he’ll reprise his role, the actor himself seems open to the idea.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has featured many gifted actors since its inception in 2008, with Jeff Bridges being one such example, delivering a remarkable performance as the villainous Obadiah Stane in the initial film, Iron Man. Despite winning an Oscar, Bridges hasn’t returned to the role of Stane in any capacity since then. This leaves us wondering if he’d be interested in reprising his character if given another chance. In response to Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom in the MCU, Bridges expressed his thoughts on potentially reviving his villainous character.

It’s surprising to think that it’s been over 15 years since the Big Lebowski character made his debut as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s initial villain. During an interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the popular actor discussed his role in Jon Favreau’s successful movie. In response to being asked if he would reprise his role as Obadiah, the Old Man actor revealed an interesting tidbit about the production process. It seems that his character was initially intended to meet a different end.

When I reviewed the script, Obadiah Stane ends up in a large vat, but when we filmed according to the script I agreed upon, they retrieved my suit and opened it, yet I was not present. So, we’re not filming that scene! However, who knows? It’s all about science fiction. Perhaps I might reappear sometime.

It’s clear that Obadiah Stane’s final scene in the movie was more conclusive than what Jeff Bridges stated during his recent interview (which can be found on YouTube). However, it appears as though the skilled actor is open to reprising the role if necessary. Although Stane died in the storyline, Marvel films yet to come are part of the Multiverse Saga, so there’s a possibility that his death could be undone. It’s worth noting that the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the superhero world is also due to multiversal events, which suggests that anything is possible in this universe.

Marvel Studios unveiled Robert Downey Jr.’s fresh MCU character at San Diego Comic-Con by having him appear on stage donning a mask and green robe. Reactions to Downey Jr.’s casting have been varied, with some applauding it while others express a preference for a different actor being chosen. In contrast, Jeff Bridges appears thrilled about his previous co-star accepting the role. When asked about the Doom news, Bridges responded positively.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement about the prospect of Jeff Bridges reprising his role in Marvel Studios once more. To me, he ranks among the MCU’s most captivating villains and I believe there’s still room for his character in some way.

Although it’s uncertain if the actor from Fisher King will return to the film world, I’ll continue admiring his performance as Stane. It’s heartwarming that he seems enthusiastic about his previous colleague coming back as a villain. Frankly, not many can boast having The Dude’s approval for their work.
