Ironheart Star Anthony Ramos Teases The 'Crazy' MCU Series

As a movie enthusiast who has seen his fair share of superhero films, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Disney+ series, Ironheart. Having witnessed the electrifying debut of Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, I can hardly wait to see her take center stage. The casting of Anthony Ramos as The Hood is a stroke of genius, and his enthusiasm for the project only heightens my anticipation.

In a twist of events, while Robert Downey Jr. might reprise his role as Doctor Doom in the MCU, Dominique Thorne’s Ironheart made her debut before him in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, which was released in 2022. It was confirmed back then that her character would receive a solo series on Disney+. Despite the wait, fans are eagerly anticipating the series, titled “Ironheart”. As of now, it is projected to start streaming on Disney+ around 2025.

Information about the show Ironheart is still limited, but it has been confirmed that Anthony Ramos will play the antagonist, The Hood. Fresh off his success in Twisters this summer, Ramos is set to build on his momentum by joining the cast of Ironheart. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the multi-talented and endearing Ramos discussed football, fan superstitions, his recent collaboration with The Athletic, and, indeed, Ironheart.

At D23, I watched a trailer for the first time, and let me tell you, as a fan, it was nothing short of mind-blowing! If the show turns out to be even half as amazing as this trailer suggests, we’re in for a treat. Dominique Thorne delivers an outstanding performance, portraying a brilliant character who crafts a new suit from scrap parts…I’m thrilled to be taking on the role of The Hood, a villain who appears in the comics. Parker Robbins, in the comics, acquires this powerful hood, but it eventually becomes too much for him, causing harm to his body. It’s overwhelming and damaging, much like the impact this trailer had on me!

What Else Is Known About Ironheart?

Ramos delved deeper into discussing his character, touching upon its impact on Robbins – from altering both his persona and physical look due to the suit, to potential directions for his character in the series.

You can see it on the outside, and you can see how it’s even affecting him on the inside and his personality and how it’s actually, literally, physically and mentally and emotionally breaking him, but it’s giving him so much power that he’s addicted…It becomes this weapon to seek vengeance, and for him, he’s starting off small, and he’s stealing in the comics, and then gradually it grows…I’m excited for y’all to see what we did with this character and just the art department, and our visual effects team and special effects makeup, too…They really did a crazy job.

It has been announced that Jim Rash will reprise his role as the Dean of MIT from “Captain America: Civil War”, joining the cast of “Ironheart” alongside newcomers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) such as Cree Summer, who is well-known for her work on “What We Do in the Shadows”, and Alden Ehrenreich from “Solo: A Star Wars Story”. Additionally, there are rumors suggesting that Sacha Baron Cohen will make his MCU debut by introducing Mephisto to the Marvel Universe. With Ramos’ enthusiasm, it seems that “Ironheart” could be a standout addition to the Disney+ lineup.
