Despite recalling that I believed Severance’s first season was one of the finest debuts in recent television history, I find myself not eagerly anticipating Season 2. The long-awaited second installment made its appearance on the 2025 TV schedule over the weekend, and the premiere generated quite a buzz; yet, I find myself questioning my excitement. As fans’ intriguing theories are potentially unveiled, I acknowledge that I may eventually watch it, but for now, I plan to hold off and catch up at a later time. This realization that I’m not as invested is truly surprising.
I Loved Severance Season 1, But I Don’t Really See Myself Watching Season 2 Right Now
Speaking of science fiction series that leave you pondering, my personal favorite has always been “Lost”. More recently, I found myself thoroughly captivated by “Severance”. To be honest, I didn’t catch it when it first aired as I didn’t have an Apple TV+ subscription back then. However, once I got access, I devoured the entire series in just a few days. The unique narrative style and the intrigue about where the story might lead left me quite impressed.
It’s been quite some time since “Severance” Season 1 aired in 2022, not entirely due to the show itself as its production was delayed because of Hollywood strikes. As a result, my memory of the series is fragmented. I sense I ought to brush up by rewatching Season 1 if I want to fully grasp the nuances and follow the developments in the upcoming season.
I’ve Been Into Watching Weekly Streaming Shows, But Severance Is A Different Story For Me
At the moment, I don’t feel strongly attached to Apple TV+ to re-subscribe and wait for weekly episodes of a series. It feels more convenient to have the platform already. Since there are numerous shows on Apple that I haven’t seen yet, it seems like a good idea to resubscribe eventually, perhaps to catch up on shows like Shrinking or Slow Horses. However, why commit now when I can wait until the new episodes of Severance finish airing and binge-watch the entire season at once? For now, my current subscriptions provide me with enough content to keep me satisfied.
It seems we’re both swimming in a sea of new movies and shows on streaming platforms each week, and while I’ve been hooked on series like “The Traitors” and “The Skeleton Crew” that I watch weekly, I’m hesitant about getting back into “Severance” three years after its initial season. Given the complexity of the plotlines I’ve already forgotten, I think I’ll have a better experience and save some money if I binge-watch it once all episodes are out. Plus, since my circle doesn’t seem to be watching it on a weekly basis for discussions, binging seems like a more enjoyable choice.
In this current time we find ourselves in, there’s an abundance of shows and content vying for our attention. While I’ve been expanding my weekly viewing with various series that I savor episode by episode, somehow Season 2 of “Severance” slipped down on my list. I’m confident that when I finally get to it, I’ll appreciate the thoughtfulness and attention given to the narrative rather than it feeling rushed. However, at this moment, revisiting Season 2 isn’t high on my priority list.
