As a long-time gamer of reality TV shows, I must admit that Snoop Dogg’s addition to The Voice this season has been a breath of fresh air. His charisma and unique coaching style have made every episode an exciting watch. However, when I learned that he only planned to coach for one season, I was disheartened, thinking that the end of his stint was already in sight.
☑️
Snoop Dogg certainly has brought a unique flavor to The Voice since its 26th season hit the 2024 TV schedule, smooth-talking his way to winning three Four-Chair Turns (so far) and starting to assemble an eclectic team of artists from different genres. I’ve been loving the feedback he gives during the Blind Auditions, as well as his hilarious relationships with his fellow coaches, so I was really disappointed when I read that he only planned to coach on The Voice for one season. However, something he said on the October 7 episode makes me think he actually would consider coming back.
What Did Snoop Dogg Say About Coaching For Just One Season On The Voice?
The Voice is recognized for regularly switching out music stars as coaches from one season to another, and occasionally, a mentor only lasts for a single season. According to OK! magazine, Snoop Dogg expressed his intentions to emulate Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, and Dan + Shay by coaching just once, as he doesn’t anticipate bonding with his fellow coaches as strongly as he has. In Snoop’s own words:
I had an amazing experience on The Voice. Initially, when I signed the contract, I was thinking I’d stick around for a year before moving on. But as soon as I stepped onto the set, I found myself captivated by Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, and surprisingly, Michael Bublé and I felt like long-lost brothers.
It’s interesting to observe a certain similarity in the types of vocalists both the West Coast rapper and the smooth pop singer prefer when assembling their groups, and it’s quite enjoyable to see the friendship between Snoop and Michael Bublé blossom.
It’s possible that Snoop Dogg could reappear as a coach on The Voice in the future, given his recent comments during the third night of auditions.
Did Snoop Dogg Allude To A Return To The Voice?
On Monday evening, Tiffany Taylor performed Billie Eilish’s Academy Award-winning song “What Was I Made For?” on stage, but she didn’t manage to get any coaches to turn their chairs. Following her performance, Snoop Dogg shared some guidance and a hint of encouragement for the artist, saying to her: “I have some thoughts and maybe a little promise…
Instead of singing a generic song, it would’ve been more appealing if you could perform a soulful piece by artists like Miki Howard or Chaka Khan for our show. Next time, consider selecting a track with that emotional depth to truly shine. This way, I can quickly press the ‘approval button’ for your performance.
It seems like, if Snoop is planning to be present when Tiffany Taylor returns, it could indicate that he’s considering or even planning for a second season, doesn’t it?
Currently, I acknowledge that it’s impossible for God to predict which season she might return, thus the promise seems rather void. However, it’s heartening to notice that he appears to be considering a return to The Voice. In fact, in the same interview, he shared his fondness for the show, expressing:
This show is truly exceptional, packed with many memorable scenes. It’s a rollercoaster ride of emotions, inspiration, and motivation, all rolled into one. Moreover, it’s an opportunity for me to share my passion, by helping aspiring artists advance in their careers – something I genuinely enjoy doing.
Snoop Dogg might appear in the Big Red Chairs at some point, but we can confirm he won’t be part of Season 27. The coaching roster for this season has already been decided, and it’s all systems go for Adam Levine’s comeback next year. Look forward to seeing him alongside John Legend, Michael Bublé, and Kelsea Ballerini in Spring 2025. Make sure you mark your calendars for the premiere date on your 2025 TV schedule!
Currently, you can still tune in for the unpredictable run of “The Voice” (with its fresh regulations and apparent modifications to the old ones) every Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on NBC.
