As a long-time admirer of Issey Miyake and his revolutionary approach to fashion, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and nostalgia as I hear about the brand’s upcoming changes. The announcement of IM MEN and their innovative integration of design and engineering is truly exciting, promising a fresh perspective on clothing that resonates with my tech-savvy soul.
Starting with the upcoming Paris Men’s Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2025 line, Issey Miyake has planned to showcase their new collections under the label “IM MEN”.
In a statement from Midori Kitamura, chairman of MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO (MDS), and Hiroki Kaito, President & CEO of ISSEY MIYAKE INC., the brand presents three key members of MDS: Sen Kawahara, Yuki Itakura, and Nobutaka Kobayashi. These individuals specialize in design, engineering, and textile design/engineering respectively. Following the launch of IM MEN in 2021 under Miyake’s guidance, this line focuses on blending design and engineering principles in its clothing creations. The trio is collaborating to reimagine garments by emphasizing both their shape and construction methods.
Commencing from January 2025, the Issey Miyake brand will temporarily halt its HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE line display. This line has been showcased in Paris since 2019 and over the past five years, the brand has experienced significant global expansion. The brand’s founder, Issey Miyake, expresses that they have devised fresh strategies for the brand as it progresses and transforms. They will reveal further details to you in the spring of next year.
IM MEN’s first collection will be presented on January 23, 2025 during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.
