‘I’ve Earned It At This Point’: Scream And Heart Eyes’ Mason Gooding Shares How He Wants To Die In A Horror Movie, And It’s So Funny

Prior to Mason Gooding‘s return as Ghostface in the next installment of “Scream”, the actor is set to star in an upcoming Valentine’s Day horror movie titled “Heart Eyes“. As Halloween features Michael Myers, Christmas brings us Krampus, and Thanksgiving has John Carver, it seems that Valentine’s Day will now be associated with the Heart Eyes Killer. During an interview with TopMob, Gooding and his co-star Olivia Holt discussed their roles, and Gooding humorously reacted to his recurring role as a horror movie survivor… for the time being at least.

Before the role in “Heart Eyes”, Gooding has earned the title of Scream King, having portrayed Chad Meeks-Martin in both 2022’s “Scream” and the following year in “Scream 6”. These roles saw him evading Ghostface twice and returning for the seventh movie that will also feature Neve Campbell’s return. Gooding has previously starred in the horror comedy “Y2K” from last year, where he managed to survive again. When I pointed out his impressive survival streak as a frequent horror actor, Gooding humorously expressed his wish (at some point) to finally meet his demise in a horror movie.

I’m secretly wishing someone in a horror movie will have the audacity to end my character, as I feel like I deserve it after all this. However, oddly enough, my characters seem to possess an uncanny ability to survive, which is frustrating since I’d prefer to meet my on-screen demise, particularly in a state of undress. It just seems fitting somehow. I can only speculate how it might transpire.

Indeed, that’s an interesting approach. It seems Mason Gooding has given thought to his response, coming up with a humorous and well-developed answer. I found it particularly amusing watching his fellow actor, Olivia Holt, respond with just a single word.

Unreal.

There’s no need for concern, Mason Gooding had a lot more depth to his thoughts about dying in a horror film, as I mentioned earlier, and his response was indeed well-considered.

It seems you might find it hard to accept that dying in a state of vulnerability, similar to how we enter life, is logical. After all, we spend such a significant part of our lives without clothes on.

It’s an amazing concept, and if it were to occur, he wouldn’t be the first actor to perish in a horror film while wearing only his birthday suit. One of the most renowned kill scenes in horror cinema took place in the 1960 movie Psycho, when Marion Crane, played by Janet Leigh, was brutally murdered in the shower. The scene, accompanied by an iconic soundtrack and a clever use of Hershey’s chocolate syrup, has left an indelible mark on horror movie history and can still be watched on YouTube today.

Will Mason Gooding make it through the Heart Eyes Killer? Only time will tell when the film premieres next weekend, a week before Valentine’s Day. The movie is written by Christopher Landon of the Happy Death Day films and Freaky, along with Michael Kennedy and Philip Murphy from It’s A Wonderful Knife. Josh Ruben, director of Werewolves Within, helmed this production.

In the realm of “Heart Eyes”, an enigmatic murderer terrorizes couples on Valentine’s Day, but things get confusing when Jay, played by Mason Gooding, and Ally, portrayed by Holt, are stalked, even though they are work colleagues who temporarily faked a relationship. It’s exciting to witness Mason Gooding take charge in “Heart Eyes”, and I hope his on-screen death scenes continue to captivate audiences for many more years.
