‘I’ve tasted blood’: When Ananya Panday opened up about being hungry for more challenging roles

Ever since her first appearance in Student of the Year 2 back in 2019, Ananya Panday has steadily developed her acting skills. In recent years, she’s starred in films such as Gehraiyaan, CTRL, Kesari Chapter 2, and others, earning a place for herself within the industry. In 2024, Ananya expressed an appetite for tackling demanding roles and embracing less traditional characters.

In a conversation with Film Companion, Ananya Panday expressed her desire to explore more as an actor. She stated, “I’ve always made a choice, whether consciously or unconsciously, not to be confined to just my looks or glamour. I yearn for more, and now that I’ve had a taste of the acting world with films like Pati Patni Aur Woh, CTRL, and shows like Call Me Bae on Amazon Prime Video, I don’t want to settle for anything less.

Ananya expressed that she now grasps the sensation of submitting herself to the flow and finds joy in it. Moreover, she mentioned that if she were to restrict herself, it might be disheartening for her female viewers too, as she represents them on-screen and narrates their tales.

In the meantime, Ananya received recognition for her acting in Kesari Chapter 2, where she portrayed Dilreet Gill alongside Akshay Kumar as the main character. R. Madhavan also contributed significantly to this film directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. The sequel of Kesari hit theaters on April 18, 2025, and grossed around Rs 81.50 crore in just three weeks.

She’s set to appear in upcoming films such as “Tu Meri, Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri” and “Chand Mera Dil”. The former will have her sharing the screen with Kartik Aaryan, and it’s slated for release in cinemas on February 13, 2026, under the direction of Sameer Vidwans. “Chand Mera Dil”, on the other hand, is a romantic drama where she will be working with Lakshya (from Kill) for the first time. The production is being handled by Vivek Soni.
