The Sony-produced Spider-Man villain series, often criticized for its confusing name, was also one of the most poorly received film franchises of the 21st century. This collection includes Tom Hardy’s Venom trilogy, Morbius, the recently premiered Kraven the Hunter, and the much-debated Madame Web. The franchise has faced a lot of criticism online, with everyone from professional critics to your grandpa questioning what went wrong with Madame Web. Now, Jack Quaid, who stars in The Boys, is adding his thoughts to the conversation in a humorous video skit.
If you’re a fan of films, you might be familiar with the Criterion Closet, an online video series where filmmakers and actors pick their favorite movies from the Criterion’s high-quality Blu-ray and 4k collection. But have you come across The Movie Cabinet? In this fresh, not-at-all imitative interview series hosted by Josh Horowitz, Jack Quaid was the inaugural guest. Things got increasingly strange during his time in the cabinet. Unlike the Criterion’s respected collection, this one held low-budget films, beginning with Morbius, starring Jared Leto. “I’m hopeful there are some hidden treasures here,” Quaid said optimistically, grabbing the first DVD. “It’s… Morbius?” Quaid showered more praise on this film than anyone online, calling it a movie, essentially, and adding that he would include it in his collection, saying “It’s Morbin’ time!
His second choice made “Morbius” appear as if it were “The Godfather,” given that he unveiled the 2024 flop, “Madame Web.” Jack Quaid managed to delve deeper into “Madame Web” than most, stating, “I believe I saw about half of this on a flight, and then we touched down.” Jack Quaid secured an exceptional Marvel artifact for his third pick. “Alright, this one is empty. No, it isn’t. It’s the ‘Kraven the Hunter (Bootleg Special)’.
Jack Quaid Auditioned For Some Weird Movies
Jack Quaid, who is currently featured in the AI horror film “Companion,” has a notable career history that includes significant movies and series. Apart from “The Boys,” he’s also been part of “The Hunger Games,” “Scream,” “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” and even Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” However, much like other actors, there are numerous roles that he didn’t get to play, and The Movie Cabinet served as a reminder of those missed opportunities.
So, we’ve got a movie here that isn’t ‘Morbius’. It’s called ‘A Star Is Born’. Fun trivia: I actually tried out for this part,” Quaid humorously disclosed, then sang “Shallow” for the audience. “She landed the role, of course. She’s Lady Gaga.” The trip down memory lane wasn’t over yet. “This is ‘Green Book’, another movie not related to ‘Morbius’. I auditioned for this one too. I even came up with the idea of eating an entire pizza like Viggo [Mortensen] does in the film, but he did it better.” It seems that Jack Quaid even misses out on roles in spoofs of his own movies. “Wow! Really? I was actually in ‘Oppenboner’, the adult film parody of ‘Oppenheimer’?! And I didn’t get that part either?!
In a parody sketch, Jack Quaid may not have landed the roles, but he aced the audition for “Companion.” This latest film boasts an impressive cast including Sophie Thatcher, Megan Suri, Lukas Gage, Rupert Friend, and Harvey Guillén. As for “Oppenboner,” it unfortunately remains unavailable to stream or watch anywhere.
