Jack Quaid pulled off a spectacular publicity move for his upcoming film “Novocaine” at an NBA game between the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Clippers on March 9th. Despite being in attendance, he seemed less than thrilled. Sitting next to his “Novocaine” co-star, Amber Midthunder, Quaid didn’t appear to enjoy the basketball action. Instead, it was the events happening off the court that appeared to displease him. He looked as if he had been in a fight, sporting multiple bruises and bandages, with his injuries worsening throughout the evening.
During the event, Quaid’s injuries brought about some laughter from the audience, with each jumbotron appearance showcasing a new wound to compound his misery. Fans in the stadium recorded these moments of distress and shared them online for others to view. A video compilation, tweeted by Pop Crave (see below), initially depicted Quaid appearing to be in good spirits, clapping and cheering alongside the game. However, his actions were somewhat limited due to his arm being in a sling. The caption posed a question: “Is it just me… or is Jack Quaid’s condition worsening as this game progresses?
The video switches to a new scene featuring Quaid being interviewed on camera. Despite claiming to be “overjoyed” about the game, his demeanor contradicts this statement. His visage is marred by blood and bruises, and he’s wearing a neck brace. The caption inquires, “Where did he get that neck brace!?” Subsequent clips show Quaid with Midthunder, who appears unscathed by the same hardships. By this point, Quaid sports a bandage on his head, leading the cameraperson to request medical assistance. They jokingly called for Novocaine, referencing Quaid’s upcoming movie, which is an action film tailored for horror enthusiasts.
‘The Boys’ Actor Is Quite Used to Being Bloodied and Bruised
Fans need not worry excessively about Quaid’s rough look; it’s merely a humorous and brutal marketing strategy for the movie Novocaine, scheduled for release on Mar. 14. He portrays Nathan “Nate” Cane in this upcoming film, where his inability to feel pain becomes an unexpected asset as he embarks on a perilous journey to save the woman of his dreams after she’s kidnapped by a group of thugs. Despite being tough to watch at times, it has managed an impressive debut on Rotten Tomatoes.
The actor has become accustomed to being covered in blood and injuries, given his leading role in Amazon Prime Video’s highly entertaining satirical superhero series, “The Boys.” Throughout its four-season run, Quaid’s character, Hughie Campbell, has been drenched with gore and grime. It appears that the intense action isn’t slowing down for him. A behind-the-scenes peek at the fifth and concluding season suggests that Hughie will face more challenges ahead.
Novocaine will be released in theaters on March 14, 2025.
