2025’s movie lineup is truly delivering the goods this year, offering delightful surprises at every turn. For instance, Jackie Chan, renowned for his action/comedy roles filled with death-defying stunts and witty one-liners, has surprised me yet again. In the upcoming film “Karate Kid: Legends”, he appears in a particularly endearing role – as a supportive partner in a pizza delivery duo. To celebrate National Pizza Day, Sony Pictures shared a touching video on their social media accounts, announcing the release date of May 30th.
So let’s pretend that there’s a fresh pepperoni pie in front of us and dig into this joyful clip:

It’s important to note that my perspective on this sixth chapter might be quite narrow since I haven’t watched any Karate Kid series or films. However, the trailer for the new movie has sparked my interest and I plan to rectify that soon. Despite not knowing the backstory, it’s clear that Jackie Chan’s heart seems as warm as the pizza he’s seen serving on the set of director Jonathan Entwistle’s upcoming legacy-quel.
To clarify for any Netflix subscribers wondering, yes, my statement encompasses my lack of understanding about how Cobra Kai connects to Karate Kid 6. Consequently, I’m not able to speculate about Ralph Macchio’s role in this scenario. However, I can propose that he might be featured in the video, doling out garlic knots or cheesy bread. But that suggestion comes from my love for pizza.
Regarding the film “Karate Kid: Legends”, there’s a possibility that Mr. Han’s enigmatic ties to the Miyagi-verse could have played a role in shaping the heartwarming pizza scene. It doesn’t mean Jackie Chan wouldn’t be generous with food or kindness in other productions. However, the sentimental blend of the original Karate Kid storyline with its 2010 remake might have impacted Jackie Chan’s emotional involvement in this new movie, a connection that echoes his iconic “Rush Hour” character.

The way The Karate Kid franchise has evolved over time seems quite significant, considering its origins centered around revenge against a schoolyard bully. However, as the story unfolded, it transformed into a platform that emphasized values such as honor, glory, and family. It often happens that choosing what’s right leaves you yearning for more.
As a die-hard movie buff, I can’t help but feel a strong desire to witness Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio in action again. After catching a glimpse of their prowess in the latest trailer, it’s clear that I need to brush up on my knowledge of Sony’s nostalgia-filled Karate Kid franchise sooner rather than later. With the upcoming release of “Karate Kid: Legends” on May 30th, there couldn’t be a better time to dive back into the tradition and honor of this classic series. And what could be more fitting than revisiting it during the start of summer?
